i wrote nearly 5,000 words today, got through like three seasons of glee again, and did absolutely no homework who's proud of me
There's a dog barking somewhere, the sound bouncing across the neighborhood, and barely traveling through the thin walls of the dormitories. Dan has a pillow over his head, yelling at the window to get the dog to be quiet while Pj shakes his head at him.
"Dan, that's not going to work. You aren't doing anything."
"Well, why don't you do something about it then?"
Pj rolled his eyes, the green reflecting how bored of this conversation he was already. "There's nothing any of us can do. Who ever's dog that is probably lives all the way across town. This is a really freaking echoey place."
"I'd love to have a dog," Phil muses, collapsing on top of Dan and throwing his arms back, the metal bed frame creaking and groaning under their combined weight. "I'd get a shiba inu."
"Those are cute," Dan agrees. "But where would you put it? We live here," he says, waving his arms up and down.
"Well I'd move out first."
"Where? You have no money and nowhere to go."
"You could go live with your parents for a bit, just until you get the money for a dog and a house," Pj suggested, looking up from his math homework.
Dan and Phil both sit up, exchanging glances. "No, I can't really," Phil says quietly, looking down and letting Dan wrap his arm around his shoulders.
"Why not?"
"My parents kind of kicked me out. I'm living here on my aunt's money because she doesn't want me in her house," Phil explains bitterly.
Pj frowns. "Why?"
"It's my fault, really," Dan rushes in before Phil can speak.
"It's not your fault."
"It is, I shouldn't - will someone please get that dog to shut up?"
Phil laughs, seemingly grateful for the way out of the conversation, and begins to stand up, holding Dan's hand. "Come one, let's go to my room. You can't hear the dog from there." Dan waves a quick goodbye to us before following Phil, leaving Pj looking a bit sad.
"I shouldn't have said that, huh?" I just shrug.
"Troye!" The door swings open again, Connor striding in with windswept hair and eyes alight like a fire somehow burning in the breeze. I stand up as soon as he says, "Adam's coming, let's go."
"How'd you know?"
He shrugs. "I can hear him yelling about how he was tired and going to take a nap down in the kitchen."
"You have a kitchen?"
He rolled his eyes, our intertwined hands swinging up and down as we walked down the maze of hallways. "Where do you think we cook our absolutely fabulous breakfasts and dinners?"
I shrugged. "Whenever I've been over you just order a pizza."
"Well, we're only allowed to order stuff after a certain amount of time here and once a month," he explained. "Okay, where do you want to go?"
I shrugged. "What is there to do in this town?"
"Wait," Connor said suddenly, forehead wrinkled as he turned to look at me. "How long have you lived here again?"
"Just the school year and a couple of days. Why?"
"Well what have you done here? In town?"
"Nothing, really."
He smiled, eyes glittering. "Do you know how to ice skate?"
"No idea. Why?"
"Let's go - "
"Wait - what? Connor - "
But he's grabbed ahold of my hand and he's jogging down the hallway with me behind him and the world at his fingertips and it doesn't seem as if he's ever going to let go.
