Jason
Jason wasn't sure how Leo managed it.
After being knocked unconsious by a brick (Which Jason knew fro experience, hurt a lot) he made himself fly the ship, only after he made sure Piper was okay. Then, he used the ships arsenal to rescue Hazel and Nico, only to get stabbed by Hazel.
Jason felt a lump in her throat. Hazel was cool, Hazel used to look up to him. It wasn't like her to do something this bad.
Jason sat next to Piper on some chairs by Leo's bedside. He hadn't woken up.
Piper was shaking, Jason wasn't sure why- From fear of Leo dying, fear of the quest, or anger to Hazel?
Piper was Leo's best friend, on the girl side. Jason and Leo were tight, but Leo and Piper had known eachother longer, in Wilderness School.
Jason patted her back. "It'll be okay Pipes, Leo's-"
"Going to die." Piper said with no emotion, staring at the empty air.
"Piper, c'mon. We know Leo, any second he's going to sit up and crack a joke about death or something." Jason said sympathticly, but he didn't sound very convincing. He could use a lttle charmspeak right now, but Piper was obviously not in the mood.
"Where's Frank?" Jason asked, changing the subject.
Piper didn't answer for a long time, and when she did, she was quiet. "Upstairs with Nico, yelling at the Coach to turn the ship around."
Jason nodded. As soon as Frank and Nico had realized Hazel wasn't on the ship, they had immdently thrown tantrums. Coach was at the helm, and Jason didn;t think they could convince him.
It hadn't seemed to matter to them that she had stabbed Leo. Through the chest, Jason might add.
Piper stood shakedly. "I'll be right back. Going to check on Hedge." She walked out of the sick bay.
Jason turned to Leo. "I swear to all the gods Valdez, if you die I'm going to kill you."
To Jason suprise, Leo opened his eyes and smiled weakly, making Jason jump. "Can you do that? Kill someone twice?"
"Piper would find a way."
Leo laughed, but it turned into a wince. "How bad is it?"
Jason swallowed tightly, teas threatening to spill out of his eyes, but he kept them at bay.
"It's bad Leo. Scraped your heart."
Leo sighed. "Tell Hazel it's okay."
"She's not on the ship, we left her at-"
"I mean, tell Hazel that when you see her. I won't be able to."
Jason stared at him. "What?"
"Dude, if my organs are wacked up, Imma die." Leo said weakly.
"You aren't dying."
Jason felt bad lying to him.
"Jason, don't let any freaks at my funeral." Leo ordered.
Jason put his head in his hands and tried to smile. "All your friends are freaks, Valdez."
Leo sighed contently.
Jason swalloed again, and though he tried to stop it, a tear escaped. "Leo....."
"Hey, if I were a god, what would I be the god of?" The question seemed out of no where, but perhaps it was Leo's fevered brain, trying to keep him alive.
Jason smiled weakly. "The god of being an idiot."
"Hmm. I think maybe....awesomeness. Leo, the god of awesomeness has a good ring to it, eh?"
Tears rolled down Jason's face. "Yeah. The god of awesomeness."
Leo closed his eyes and looked happy with the world.
"Leo, I've been meaning to tell you...." Jason began, but when Leo didn't question it or anything, Jason's blood ran cold.
"Leo? Dude...." He shook him. "Wake up. Leo, please..." Jason choked, and checked Leo's pulse.
Jason's seat fell over as he ran up the stairs.
"Hedge!! Heal him!" Jason panted, running to the deck.
Everyone was gathered there, and they all looked questionable. "Huh?"
Jason paled more and more each second. "Leo doesn't have a pulse."
Piper's knees buckled, and Frank's jaw dropped.
Nico just looked confused.'
Hedge pushed Jason out of the way and ran down the stairs. "Someone take the wheel!"
Nico ran to the helm and pressed random buttons at odds. The boat dived and moored in the water.
Piper was printer-paper white and she gasped like she couldn't breathe. Jason probably didn;t look any better.
Minutes passed, and Jason couldn't take it any longer. He dashed down the stairs and made it to the sickbay in record time.
What he saw didn't hit him for a few seconds, and when it did, he almost passed out.
Hedge was standing over a plain white shroud, the ones the Apollo kids had packed onto the ship when the Argo II left CHB. He had silent tears rolling down his cheeks, and looked like he was going to throw up.
Jason gagged. No way....not Leo....not my best friend....
Hedge turned to Jason, looking sadistic.
"Prepare the upper deck for a funeral."
