Chapter 20

"Raven we've got to go to school!" Katie exclaimed. We were sitting in the car, which was off.

I turned to Katie and shook my head. "Katie I-I can't do this," I stammered.

"Yes you can. Remember when you found out that your ex was your teacher? You did it. You got through the awkward part. Now you got to do the same with this."

I started the car and didn't say another word. I didn't even have music on which is a very weird thing since I always had it on.

We got to the school and went to our lockers.

"Hey," Jace said cheerfully. "How's my girl? Are you going to the pep rally later by the way?"

"Hey," I said and faked a smile, "I'm okay and oh yeah pep rally...yes I'm going." I had completely forgot about the pep rally.

He grabbed me and then we kissed. We went on for at least a minute or two. The bell rang and we didn't budge.

"No PDA," Mr. Zielinski said firmly. "And get to class you two. Do I have to say this every morning?"

We stopped and then Jace said to me, "I'll see you later." He grinned, patted my head, and then left. I genuinely had smiled at him too until he left. Then I had to face Mr. Zielinski's class which I dreaded even more now.

My smile faded and I went inside and sat down.

Throughout the whole class I barely looked up at Mr. Zielinski. We took notes again and I doodled after I wrote stuff.

I got a text from Katie and it was of Boo from Monsters Inc saying "Kitty!" and Sulley had a photoshopped white cat's head on it. I couldn't help but bust out laughing. It was hilarious.

"I thought that would cheer you up," Katie whispered to me and smiled.

"I swear you send me the most hilarious things sometimes," I said, "thank you!"

After a while Mr. Zielinski came up to me and whispered, "Can I see you after class? We need to talk."

I made eye contact with him for the first time since I found out he was dating my mom. I gulped and then looked away. We kept writing notes.

As soon as the bell rang I freakin' bolted out of the room like my life depended on it. I knew what he wanted to talk about and that's the very last thing I wanted to do on this Earth.

"RUN, RUN YOU CLEVER BOY AND REMEMBER ME!" Katie shouted at me as I was running. It was a "Doctor Who" reference. I wasn't in the mood to laugh at it though.

I went through 2nd-4th period and then the bell rang for lunch. I didn't even want to go. My plan was to avoid Mr. Zielinski for the rest of my life.

I went to the table and kept looking around to make sure Mr. Zielinski wasn't around.

"Why are you being so paranoid?" Jace asked and laughed.

"Oh...um I'm not. It's nothing," I said and nervously brushed my hair back.

We went to get food and stood in the long line. I nervously kept looking around.

"You're going to drive yourself crazy," Katie said.

"Look he said he wanted to talk to me after class and then I ran away," I said. "My plan is to avoid him for the rest of my life."

"You know you can't do that Rave."
