Chapter 41

"She looks so happy. The girl who seems to have everything," I sang. "Walking the halls and acting like she's cool, no one can see the disguise. Her life seems like it's perfect. How can someone so beautiful be broken?"

"Beautiful!" my manager said.

"What did you think?" I walked out and asked David. Dylan is currently spending time with his parents and Lolita is working on more wedding stuff so David is the only one who could join me at the studio today; besides my manager obviously.

"You did a great job and turning the song country was a good idea," he replied.

"Do you like it?"

He nodded, "It was great. You put a lot of emotion into the song and made it your own. The fans will love it."

"Thank you," I smiled.

"This is the second cover you've given them right?" he asked.

I nodded, "I'm trying to hint to them that I'm going country. Maybe after I post this second cover they will start figuring out the pattern."

"Why not sing country songs?"

I shrugged, "I listen to Lolita's music a lot and I want to pick songs that have a lot of meaning. Next week's song isn't a Lolita one though; this week was coincidence."

He chuckled, "Sure it was. When is your first single coming out?"

"I don't know," I answered honestly, "We haven't figured that out yet. I'm still in the process of writing songs so I would say it's a good couple months away. I have to listen to everybody's advice and take it slow so I don't overwork myself."

"That gives you plenty of time."

I rolled my eyes, "Can everyone stop with the subtle hints that I need to relax?"

"I'm sorry, we're concerned."

"But I've been a lot better since I got out of the hospital haven't it?"

"Yes," he nodded.

"Can we drop it now please?"

"I'll try, promise."

"Good, ready for food?"

He chuckled, "Yeah let's pick something up on the way home. What are your plans for tonight?"

"I think I'm going over to Dylan's house. He's been spending time with his family because they've been on his case lately and they insist he stays there tonight. He didn't want to so he compromised with them and they agreed that I could come over and have a movie night with them."

"What's up with his family anyway? He doesn't talk about them a lot."

I shrugged, "I don't really know. I think that they have a clear view about what he should be doing with his life and he's not doing it."

"They're angry because he's not following their path."

"That's what it sounds like. I don't know how else to describe it."

"That makes sense. That would explain why they've been on his case lately."

"They're still trying to talk him into being a doctor or having a great career like that, but he refuses to take some of the classes for it. He hates science and math."

David shook his head, "I'm glad our parents are not like that."

"Me too," I agreed. "They let us go on our own path instead of theirs."
