Note: It feels like it has been so long since I updated last so I am sorry for that. Next week is finals week and I only have two more assignments left until I am on summer break. Even though I am taking a summer class it is fully online and because it is only one class I will definitely have more time to write and update.
This is the part in the story where things start to really change compared to It Was A Mistake But I Am Unbroken Now. Hopefully those of you that read the it was a mistake series are enjoying this story and reading even more about Kayla's story. I turned this story into an original because I loved her character so much and I felt she deserved her own story and I've been so grateful that so many of you relate so much to her. :)
Chapter 58
Our tour lasted almost three full months. All of us excelled at our homework and always turned it in on time. Considering we could not take the actual tests the teachers required us to write a paper for each class to prove we learned what we needed to throughout the semester. We knew we were lucky they allowed us the make-up assignments. A couple years ago a student tried to do the same thing, but when he missed a lot of school they refused a make-up assignment so he had to retake the entire grade. Of course they most likely allowed it solely for the reason of Lolita and David; it helps having celebrity friends and family, but I think they would have allowed it either way because they knew we helped others. The school appreciates what we did to stop bullying in our school. When the principal mailed our progress reports all of us received an A or a B in the class. Lolita and David took us to dinner in celebration.
We arrived back in town at night when we knew less paparazzi would expect us. Each vehicle dropped us off at our houses, except Dylan got off at my house. He told his parents he would not be back until after school tomorrow. When my manager told him otherwise he did not bother calling to tell his parents. He said he wanted the trip to last another day because he knew what they would say when he walked back in the door. He helped me carry my bags into my room, but I did not bother unpacking. We immediately laid on my bed instead. "I'm tired," I told him. "It feels like I haven't slept in this bed in forever."
"It will be weird to walk back into school tomorrow. I got used to traveling and talking with the other schools."
I smiled, "I did too. I loved it."
"It showed," he pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. "You looked so happy for the last two months. Kayla that is what you are supposed to do."
"I think so too," I agreed. "I never thought so more."
We fell asleep on my bed less than an hour later and woke up to my alarm going off. My bodyguard Jim greeted us with coffee as he picked us up. I laughed, "Jim, how did you know?"
"I dropped you off pretty late last night. I thought you might be a little late."
"Thank you," I took a sip, "This is exactly what I needed."
The school surprised us with a welcome back banner when we arrived. Maria and Anastasia walked in slightly before we did and they got the same greeting. Confetti flew in the air as they cheered. I held Dylan hand and pulled him along as I jogged to catch up with Maria. "Did they do this to everyone?" I asked her.
She nodded, "I assume so."
"I did not expect that," Anastasia laughed.
"It makes me happy to know they noticed," I pointed out. "It means they paid attention to what we worked on over break. David and Lolita did take videos and upload them after every school visit."
