Note: I am still not going to update this story regularly, but I've gotten a few chapters done and wanted to post one of them.

I decided to take this part of the story in this particular direction to make a point and describe the important that social media and the internet now has on the world. I'm a 90s kid so I grew up without technology, but it was introduced to me as a child when it became popular. Now the world practically revolved around technology, and there are good and bad aspects about it. That's what the next few chapters will be about, in very different ways.

I hope you enjoy! :)

Chapter 67

I felt everything falling down on me all at once. I gripped my phone in my hand and I couldn't look away. I stood in my bedroom frozen. They weren't supposed to get in. My bodyguards were supposed to handle it. They told me security would keep me safe. I don't feel so safe anymore. I've ignored my friend's phone calls for the last hour and I've ignored Dylan's phone calls for the last two hours. I can't call them yet. I should, but I can't.

Two and a half hours ago Ellen called me to tell me about another rumor that spread after the paparazzi snuck into my yard to get photographs. Apparently planes, droids, and climbing fences were all involved in the incident. I had no idea they were there. Dylan and I were on a date. Ever since the last couple rumors Dylan and I started having our dates at my house instead of going out. The date started in the kitchen, and then we moved to the living room, and lastly went to my bedroom. Apparently the paparazzi snuck in while we were in the living room and managed to get photographs of the rest of the night. I felt humiliated. Ellen said she would press charges and do whatever it takes because what they have done is not acceptable. I agree. It isn't accepted, but the photographs already spread to most of the world.

My phone rang again. It was David calling this time. I hit ignore and walked to the bathroom. By the time I closed the door my phone rang again. This time it was mom. I hit ignore. I climbed into the bathtub and sat down. My phone rang again. Lolita. Ignore. I put my phone on silent and set it on the floor. How am I supposed to go out in public ever again? Every time I pass someone on the street I will be wondering if they saw the photographs. Every time I see someone looking my way and talking I will assume they are talking about those photographs.

I wonder if Dylan will be able to continue seeing me. I'm sure his parents heard about the photographs by now. Maybe he hasn't shown up yet because his parents are in the process of lecturing him about his poor choice of a girlfriend. Maybe they're forbidding him from ever seeing me again. I heard a noise from the hall and looked up. I wonder who decided to visit me first. David. I shouldn't be surprised. He sat on the floor next to the bathtub.

"You're not going to make me talk about it, are you?" I asked him.

He shook his head, "Of course not. I don't want to hear about it at all, nothing, but I do have to say I wish I had never seen those pictures in the first place."

I sighed, "I wish a lot of people hadn't seen them."

"Kayla, what they did was wrong. They trespassed on private property and took inappropriate photographs of you then proceeded to post them online for the world to see. I will make sure they don't get away with it."

"Ellen is already working on it."

"Good, I'll help her. This isn't acceptable."

"Is that what you came to tell me?" I asked.

"Kay, you know me better than that. I came to see how you were handling it."

I replied, "Not well, obviously."
