Chapter 46
When I arrived at the school not many people were there, but a few of the Danes Over Bullying group was gathered in the main lobby area. Dylan and I sat next to each other on one of the benches. Lolita, David, Maria, Jack, and Anastasia were the first ones here and the rest quickly arrived.
"Does everyone know what's going on now?" I asked them and looked around at their nodding heads. "I need ideas," I told them; "I need events, fundraisers, and anything we can do to continue bringing this school back together so Zack and Damien can't hurt us."
"I thought of something last night," Maria said.
"Go ahead," I nodded.
"Let's have a dance," she suggested, "Not a dance where we crown a king and queen, but a dance where we can all just have fun. Anastasia had a great suggestion instead of the crowning thing too."
"I saw something online," Anastasia told us, "and I think we should hang pictures of everyone in the school around the gym and we can type compliments about them on there. At the end of the dance everyone can take their own picture home."
"That's a great idea!" I smiled.
"What about the bullies?" Lolita asked.
"I thought of something for that," Jack said. "Let's laminate the pictures and compliments and the chaperones for the dance can walk around and monitor them making sure nobody messes them up."
"Good," I nodded, "Any other ideas? I'll ask the principal about the dance today."
"Before Christmas break throw a big carnival," Lolita said. "It would be a good way to celebrate the end of the semester and the beginning of break."
"I love that," Maria smiled.
"Me too," everyone seemed to nod in agreement.
"Okay," I continued, "Now what about every day during school? We can't bring each other together by throwing events all the time."
"I have an idea about that," David said, "You guys just need to spread your wings and talk to more people. Right now, we're a group and when you're in school I assume you stick to talking to everyone in the group. What you need to be doing is talking to more and more people every day; people you have never talked to before. Make sure they know you're a friend even if you don't know them very well."
"That's a good idea," I told everyone. "Make it your mission to talk to a couple people you've never talked to before every day. This should be good for now I'll talk to the principal after school before going home about all of this. I still need to make a list and type our ideas out."
"Jack," Dylan stopped him while everybody else was leaving, "Can I ask a favor man?"
"Sure," Jack nodded, "What's up?"
"I need an alibi for last night. I didn't come home and I know my parents are going to ask me when I get home."
"Yeah go ahead and use me as an alibi. What happened?"
"I was supposed to come home but stayed at Kayla's."
"If you keep it up your parents are never going to let you go over there anymore."
Dylan chuckled and put his arm around me, "But look at how cute she is." I rolled my eyes and put one of my arms around Dylan.
"I know what you mean," Jack said and reached over to hold Maria's hand.
"I'll say we did our homework and played some video games. If you ever get asked, that's the excuse."
Jack nodded, "Got it. School doesn't start for another 15 minutes want to shoot some hoops?"
"Yeah," Dylan nodded, "I'm up for a game."
"I'll sit here with Maria," I smiled at him.
He kissed me quickly, "I'll see you in class."
"Love you."
"Love you too," he replied and stood up with Jack. I took Jack's place and sat next to Maria.
"He stayed over again?" Maria asked.
"It was a very interesting day to say the least."
"What happened?"
"We broke up."
"What?!"
"Shh, I'll explain."
"You better!"
"Dylan tried to talk to Zack and Damen again, but they told him he had to choose between me and them. At first Dylan just really had a hard time deciding and I felt really guilty and hurt that he didn't know who to choose."
"You broke up with him."
I nodded, "Lolita then spent the afternoon trying to calm me down and making sure I didn't hurt myself while Dylan apparently thought the solution was going to scream at Zack and Damen."
"How did that go?"
"He says he probably made things worse, but he was just really mad and in the moment. He got away before the fight got too bad. He ran right to my house despite the fact that I told him to leave earlier."
"Aww! He's such a keeper."
I chuckled, "Yeah, I told him to leave again but he didn't. He explained that he would always choose me and that he loves me. It was the most amazing night of my life."
"Wait, what else happened? Clearly something did if it was that amazing."
"Okay maybe something more happened," I blushed, "but I'm really happy Dylan didn't just listen to me and leave."
"He loves you too much to leave," Maria said.
I smiled, "I know that now. I love him so much."
"He loves you too. The relationship you two have is something I don't even see in adults. You're lucky."
"Yeah," I smiled, "and I'm really happy we were able to get through that. I don't want to be away from him."
"Why didn't you call me about this?"
I shrugged, "I was too upset, and Lolita just happened to come over. I didn't want to be around a lot of people."
"That's understandable. Are you okay now?"
"I'm better, but I'm still really nervous about the Zack and Damen thing."
"As long as we can get the school to stick together on this then they will have no chance at becoming the school bullies."
"I never understood what was so cool about bullying people."
"I don't know either. Maybe it's the sense of power and control they have over everyone else."
"Maybe," I sighed.
"Let's just get through the day," Maria said. "Maybe we can make some new friends."
I smiled, "I would love that."
"As you go through the day think about talking to new people and spending time with Dylan. Ignore Zack and Damen as much as you can."
"That's a really good idea. Life would be perfect if they would have just agreed to keep the peace between everyone."
"It would," she agreed.
