Chapter Thirty

Its crazy that three weeks ago I was saying that I would be graduating in just three short weeks. My graduation is at eleven in the morning and Sophia’s is at six in the evening. I woke up this morning with a big smile on my face. I’m so excited to be graduating and moving to LA with Josh, we’ve been dating for about five years, which feels like a really long time! I get out of my comfy bed that just has a small blanket since the rest of my things are packed for LA. After my shower I curl my hair and put on black eyeliner and mascara and a dark gray eye shadow. My dress is an Alexander Wang dress; it’s a cocktail dress with a cinched waistline. The skirt of the dress is pleated and the straps area sheet nude color.

When I come into the empty kitchen Soph is looking beautiful in a black cocktail dress with a sheer overlay exaggerated on the top with a cinched waist belt and a small bow in the middle made by Dolce & Gabbana. “You look beautiful!” I say giving her a hug. “You know what is really crazy?” Soph asks. “What?” I ask. “We graduated kindergarten together and eighth grade together, I was at your high school graduation and now we are both graduating today!” She says smiling. At what she said my eyes start to tear, its true we have been best friends since the very beginning! “Oh my God, I seriously don’t know what I would do without you!” I say hugging her while tears spill from my eyes. “I love you!” She says as tears spill from her eyes. We sit on the couch and talk for a while before Josh and Kellan come to pick us up.

We arrive at the auditorium of my college and I talk with Soph for a while before Tiff comes up to me to come to our seats. “I Love You and I’m so proud of you!” Josh says kissing me. “I love you too!” I say. I hug Kellan and Soph before I head to my seat. Since my last name is Black I will be one of the first ones and Tiff will be soon after. I see Hunter sitting with Josh and Kellan. My parents and sister couldn’t make it, which is disappointing but understandable. “Amanda Rose Black!” The principal says calling my name. I go up and get my diploma, he also hands me my baking jacket and shakes my hand. “Congratulate our Graduates!” He says before letting us leave. As I take of my graduation gown I see Josh, Kellan, Soph, and Hunter walking toward me. Tiffany catches up with me before I make it to them. We hug and Josh comes up and kisses me. Soph hugs me along with Hunter and Kellan. We celebrate with lunch and before we know it its time to head to Sophia’s graduation.

Soph hugs me before she heads to her seat. She will be one of the very first one because of her last name being Avery. “Sophia Ashley Avery!” The principal announces. We cheer for her and before we know it she is walking towards us with the biggest smile on her face. I hug her and she can’t stop smiling. We take a few pictures together and we decide to celebrate again with dinner. After an amazing day we head to our empty apartment to have one last night’s sleep before we head to LA.

When we wake in the morning I throw on yoga pants and a Fall Out Boy tank top for the car ride to LA. We are driving to LA. Soph and I just wanted to hop on a plane but Kellan and Josh insisted on a car trip across the United States. Josh and Kellan pack our cars. I will be driving with Josh and Kellan and Soph will be following behind us. Hunter and Tiff will be driving down in a few days.

After a crazy almost 48 hour drive we are in LA. Josh and I get to his house, which is absolutely huge, and he shows me around. Soph calls me and tells me she is settled in at Kellan’s. “Hey babe!” Josh says. “Hey.” I say. “So I have a big movie premiere Friday night, I was wondering would you like to be my date? It will be your first big red carpet event.” He says smiling. “Of course I will go with you! Does that mean I can go shopping?” I ask with a smile. “Yes, that means that you can go buy a beautiful jaw dropping dress for the red carpet!” He says smiling. “Yay!” I say kissing him. “Would you like to come with me?” I ask. “No, that’s Sophia territory!” He says with a laugh. “That’s true!” I say. “Go now!” He says grabbing his wallet. “No, I can’t take your money.” I say. “You are taking the money!” He says handing me his credit card. “Spend as much as you need!”  He says kissing me. “Oh and don’t forget our five year anniversary is Saturday!” He says with a smile. Soph and I head to a bunch of different stores that sell Sherri Hill and Jovani dresses. I find two different Jovani dresses that Soph and I are in love with. The first one is a Cross Waist Chiffon Gown.  It is a chiffon ombre gown with one shoulder strap, a beautiful ruched top bodice with intricate beading detail and a layered flowing skirt. It comes in blue ombre, purple ombre, and fuschia ombre. The second one is a gathered strap V-necked bodice with sculpting tucks that radiate from the center front and sparkling disks around the waist in a circle. The dress is ombre and flows to the floor in a beautiful ombre purple. Soph and I talk it over for what seems like hours and I call Josh and ask him to come pick. He meets us and I try on each dress for him. In both dresses he looks at me wide eyed and with a dropped jaw. “How about this, since you look so spectacular in both I buy both and then you can wear one Friday and the other to a different premiere.” He suggests. “No, that’s way to much money, you can’t spend that much on me!” I say. “No. I insist.” He says smiling. I change back into my clothes and Josh pays, he makes me feel incredibly guilty. He heads home with the dresses while Soph and I go shopping. She’s going to help me get Josh something for our anniversary.

We head to a bunch of different stores and I decide to buy him an expensive watch, which I know he needs. After a while Soph and I just go shopping for random things and we head over to my place. Kellan is at a photo shoot. So Josh, Soph, and I watch Pitch Perfect. Soph says she has to leave and I eat dinner with Josh for the first time in my new home.
