Chapter Forty-Two

My wedding is in three days and of course I'm overjoyed. Josh has a meeting with his manager today so I invited Tiffany over to talk about our bakery. "Have you come up with names?" She asks. "I have." I hand her a list of names I thought of. She reads them aloud,

"Confection Perfection

Caketopia

Sweet Revenge

Sensational Sweets

Sifted Sweets

Sugar Rush

Confection Castle.

Creative names. How bout this. I pick one you pick one and we choose from there." She says. I nod in agreement and look at the list. "I love the name Sifted Sweets. I think it's catchy and fun!" I say. "I like Sensational Sweets! It's creative, fun and unique." She says. I take the list and throw it in the trash. "Ok. I think you are right. I like Sensational Sweets!" I say. Tiffany smiles. "Ok now we need a logo and a catchy saying." She says. "The logo is going to be easy. The saying is going to be difficult." I say. "Let's do the logo first!" She says. We decide to make our own logo instead of hiring someone. "Do we want it elegant or fun?" I ask. "Let's go with elegant because the name sounds elegant!" She says. I agree. We already know we are going to sell anything sweet.

We begin designing our logo. We start off with 'Sensational Sweets' in the center in a bold, striking, yet elegant style of writing. The words are inside of a small almost invisible oval of grayish silver. "We need some kind of sweet!" I say. "Let's have the O in sensational be a cupcake." She suggests. "That sounds perfect." I say. I insert a picture of a cupcake we made in college. It's a perfect representation of how we make them. We look at the logo for at least ten minutes. "Now we need the catchy saying to put under the logo, then we'll have the logo finished and we can move onto flavors." She says. "Ok let's think." I say. We sit in the kitchen with the laptop in the table staring at it. "Ok, it's time for a break. I say we go down to the shop. We ordered all the appliances yesterday but I got a text this morning saying its already here. At least this way we can get the appliances and stuff in and start to figure out how we want it to look and we can postpone the catchy saying and start to create flavors!" I say. She nods in agreement. I grab my laptop bags and put my laptop in it. I grab my keys and wallet and we head to my car.

When we pull up to the store Tiffany opens it with her set of keys. In the back of the store all of the brand new appliances sit in boxes by the door. "We need muscle. We can't move this on our own." Tiffany says. She calls Hunter while I text Josh, maybe he got out early. He texts back that he's on his way. Hunter and Josh come in at the same time. We start unpacking the boxes and we start moving the appliances into their spaces. We have everything finished and we start putting the other appliances up on the second floor. A refrigerator, kitchenaid mixer, oven and all the other essentials. We all sit on the floor of the second floor. "How do you want the bakery to look?" Hunter asks. "Elegant." Tiffany replies. "I think we should have about 6 glass tables with nice black chairs. Like the ones in our kitchen, Josh. Then we could have maybe some black and crystal chandeliers. The walls could be a soft lavender purple and we could have elegant, powerful celebrity quotes." I say. "I completely agree!" Tiffany says smiling. "Let's start ordering!" I say. We order flooring, chairs, tables, our pastry case, chandeliers, everything we need. We also order a futon for the second floor along with a small flatscreen. We have all the furniture order and we begin to order the baking supplies. We have everything ordered and it should arrive either tomorrow or the next day. Josh says he has to get back to his manager and Hunter has to leave for some song writing leaving Tiffany and I in the second floor kitchen.

We start experimenting with flavors and have a list of 16 different flavors, some unique, some basic. We stare at our list of flavors. The flavors can be cupcakes or cake. But we will also have cookies, muffins and pies. We specialize in cupcakes and cakes!

That list is our all year long list. We create a list of holiday flavors. We have most of our stuff straightened out. We lock up and head back to my place. When we get to my house Sophia is sitting in her Porsche. "I thought you worked today?" I ask. "I did. But my shift is over." She says. "How was a day full of saving children's lives?" Tiffany asks. Soph smiles. "Amazing!" We head into the house. Tiffany and I tell Soph about all we got done for the bakery and Soph tells us about saving babies. I spend a few more hours just hanging with two of my best friends!
