Chapter Thirty-Four

Its crazy that today is the day I’m going to Vera Wang. Tiffany lives just a few blocks away so she is coming over later. Katie is staying at our place for a while and Soph is coming over in about an hour. I’m dressed and ready for a day with my girls. Tiff, Soph, Katie and I are sitting in the living room talking before we head to Vera Wang’s shop. “How are we going to avoid the paparazzi?” Katie asks. “Well, Vera said we can go to the back of the store so they can’t see us.” I say. “Oh perfect.” She says. “We really should get going.” Tiffany says. “Josh!” I yell. “Yes babe?” He asks. “I just wanted to kiss you before I left.” I say kissing him. “Well, pick a beautiful gorgeous dress.” He says kissing me again.

When we get to Vera Wang we head to the back. “Amanda Black soon to be Hutcherson.” I say. “Oh Vera is waiting for you in the exclusive dressing area, I’ll take you! I’m Candice by the way.” She says. We head back to the exclusive dressing area and Vera is looking through dresses. “Amanda! I’m so happy to see you!” She says. “I’m glad to see you as well Vera. These are my bridesmaids, Tiffany and Katie and my maid of honor Sophia.” I say. “I’m so glad to meet you girls as well. Would you like to shop for your dress first or the bridesmaids?” Vera asks me. I look at my girls. “You should pick your dress first.” They all say. “Ok. Looks like I’m going first!” I say. Vera and I head back to a room full of beautiful not to mention expensive dresses. Vera and I look through dozens of dresses and I continue trying on dresses for the girls and I haven’t had ‘the’ moment yet. She helps me get in a simple white ball gown with tulip pleats and accenting flowers at the waistline. When I step into the room with my girls I can see their faces. I feel so beautiful! I can see tears in their eyes before I notice that tears are streaming down my face. “This is my dress!” I say between hugs. After getting out of the dress I go into the room while the girls go back with Vera.

When it’s time for my bridesmaid dresses I sit on a plush sofa and wait for Vera to work her magic. Fifteen minutes later the girls come out in dresses, heels and all. Vera smiles at her work and sits beside me. “Sophia is wearing an elegant, one-shoulder gown with bias-cut flange skirt, and a waist-slimming elastic belt in an elegant lavender color wearing a pair of ebony caged sandal pumps.” I get up and get a good look at the dress. She looks absolutely fabulous. “Tiffany is wearing a short strapless crinkle chiffon side draped dress with black grosgrain sash in a beautiful blush color wearing peep toe platform pumps with a crystal bow.” I walk up to Tiff and get a good look at the dress. I love the shoes! “And finally Katie is wearing a hammered satin side-draped dress with asymmetrical neck line and bow in a bright purple cassis color wearing glitter platform pumps.” Vera says. I get a good look at all the dresses. “Oh my God! You guys look so amazing! Vera you need to help me decide!” I say. “Well all the girls look beautiful, first lets go with a color. Which one do you like?” She asks. “Um. I like lavender, I mean it’s the perfect color.” I say. “Ok then I will get all the girls in that color in the dress they are wearing, Sophia you can stay here.” She says. Soph and I sit on the couch drinking some champagne when Katie and Tiff come out. Soph walks over to the other girls and they all stand in a line. “Can you guys dance in those dresses?” I ask. “Well we can always test it out.” Vera says turning on Clarity by Zedd. The girls start dancing around and I see Katie struggling. “Um. Katie. I love you to death and I know you have wicked dance moves but you can’t dance in that dress.” I say. Katie joins me on the couch. “I don’t know how to choose!” I say. “I’ll choose for you!” Vera says smiling. “I think the dress Sophia is wearing will be perfect!” She says. “ Do you guys like this dress?” I ask Tiff and Katie. “Yes, it’s perfect and if you’re happy were happy!” Tiffany says hugging me. 

We set up a fitting for May 21, which is a month before the wedding. After a day full of beautiful dresses I decide to take my girls to the spa. We get massages and have a day full of pampering. After pampering we head back to my place to hang out. Josh sits at the island with Kellan. “I didn’t know who’d be here!” Soph says kissing Kel. “Well, Josh said you ladies would be out all day so I thought Josh and I could hang out.” Kel says. “Ladies, let’s go talk upstairs, let the men have the downstairs.” I say. We go upstairs to the theater and put on Pitch Perfect, which never gets old. After a while Tiff and Soph both say they need to head home. Katie and I eat dinner while Josh goes into town to see his manager. It’s about midnight before Josh gets home. I head to bed and fall into a deep slumber after a wonderful day with my best friends.
