Chapter 2: When she met him.

"Aaaaaah!" A scream left my lips as two chairs spun around to face me.

"We are back!" The two people occupying the chairs cheered in unison. I put a hand on my chest to calm my racing heart down. "Scared me you guys! And I think, I am back?"

Greg scratched the back the back of his and turned to Cal, "Wasn't it supposed to be 'You are back'?" A pure look of confusion on their faces had me burst into a fit of chuckles.

"I missed you guys!" I said affectionately and I was instantly engulfed in the tightest hug in the history of tightest hugs.

"Guys...can't...breathe...." I managed to choke out and they released me quickly. I took long deep breaths to calm myself before smiling back them.

"Welcome back Steph!"

"We missed you!" Cal and Greg said together at the same time smiling goofily at me.

"I kinda got that." I said making way to my bed and lying down on it. They followed and stood at the edge eyeing me weirdly.

"What are you doing?" Cal asked.

"Uh, what do you think?" His was a stupid question really. I was tired. It was almost midnight. I wanted to sleep. Simple.

"Sleep." I answered in case they didn't get it.

"No you are not." Greg stated in a way that said no arguments. "You are coming with us."

"Where to?" I asked yawning.

"Our haven." Cal grinned.

"We can go on the weekend and the one after that and the one after thaa...." I was too drowsy to complete the sentence and as my eyelids drooped I snuggled into my pillow.

"Not happening!" I heard Cal say in a sing song voice.

"Ready Cal?"

"I was born ready Greg. Let's do this."

And before I had the time to open my eyes and see what the idiots were upto, I felt my body float. Two pair of hands holding my legs and my shoulders. I gasped loudly and wriggled to get out of their grip. But damn these boys were strong. They carried me out of my room, down the stairs into the living room, shaking their bottoms as they did this, dancing. Idiots.

"Put me down this instant!" I demanded and they answered with goofy grins.

"Mom! Dad! Help! I'm being kidnapped!"

"Oh stop being a drama queen." Mom patronized, her head popping from the door leading to the kitchen. Dad didn't even take his eyes off the TV.

Hmph.

"We missed you, Steph." Greg said, turning to me with an affectionate smile on his face. We were walking to the park, better known as our 'haven', because we always had the best of our times there. All five of us had been going there since I can remember; Greg and Cal must be really happy to see me to take me there, one more day to add to our memories. The sun was setting now, the sky a canvas of red and orange and the serene atmosphere brought a smile to my face. The breeze carried with it the smell of fall, rustling the leaves on the trees beside the road. Some people lingered about, though not many. It felt as if we had the town to ourselves.
