Chapter 44 - He needs to stop enticing me with his Harry Potter eyes.
"Carry my soul, into the night."
"No Al, you gotta go a little higher." I cut her singing off. My hat toppled over as I swayed slightly and I giggled.
"How!?" She whined, "there's nothing here to climb on."
"She meant pitch Al, the pitch of your voice." Em said exasperated from somewhere I couldn't see.
"Hey Em, why are you hiding behind the tree?" I yelled.
"Ferté in noctem..I don't know what's after that." Greg murmured scrunching his face in concentration. He was sitting on a big rock while twirling his long fake hair then scowling when he realized what he was doing.
"I told you, you should remember it at least for today, didn't I?" Cal hit him on the head.
"Oh yeah? Then why don't you complete the song?" Greg said suddenly standing up and putting a sword at Cal's neck. I wondered where he got that from. Olivia shrieked and came running from somewhere.
"What were you and Olivia doing behind that tree, Em?" I yelled at her again.
"Let's dance." A hand held mine suddenly. I looked down at our hands followed it up to the arm and came face to face with Hugh.
"Huh?" I grinned stupidly while my hat toppled over again.
"Like them." He nodded towards two other people dancing. Dave and Al. Swaying together, while her dress and his robe flew around them. I wondered where Dylan was.
"Sure, why not!" I grinned back at him, wrapping my arms around his neck. He placed his hands at my waist and we began moving to the music. I was grinning as we continued dancing. Even Dave dancing with Al didn't dampen my mood.
I was totally high.
But on happiness, mind you.
"It was Dave's idea you know?" Hugh said wincing slightly as I yet again stepped on his foot. I just couldn't stop being all bouncy right then.
"Really?!" My eyes widened.
"Yeah, he's been planning this for months." My lips formed an 'o' as he smiled at me.
"My turn!!" Greg came running at us. I tried to warn him to slow down but his legs found a rock and he fell before I could do that.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." He got up pretty quickly and brushed off his palms on his hands and continued walking towards us as if nothing happened. Hugh and I stifled in our laughs as he approached us.
"Thank you for the uh- lovely dance, milady." Hugh kissed my hand, but I did catch the wincing as he said lovely. I laugh as I do a small courtesy beaming at him.
"My turn." Greg announced again, as he took my hand and wrapped it around his neck. He put his own around my waist and pulled me closer. Because he was good dancer himself he even saved himself from being stomped upon.
My eyes wandered searching for Dave as Greg twirled me around. He was leaning against a tree, but I couldn't see where he was looking or why wasn't he enjoying himself. I found Dylan having replaced Dave, him and Al were swaying arm in arm, completely entangled into one another.
