Chapter 40 - Oh, this boy, loved his nose, very very much.

Callum

"I am perfectly fine!" I said for the fiftieth time in the last hour.

"No, you are not." Liv repeated for the fifty-first time in the last hour.

"I don't want to do this right now." I sighed, placing my hand on my forehead and running it down my face. A sudden shriek made me look up in alarm.

"When do you think we should huh? Tell me a date and a time and I'll shut up." Liv had a crazed look in her eyes as she stood in front of the bed I was lying on.

"Liv-"

"Cal, we need to have this conversation. You know we need to."

"No, we don't!" I snapped.

"You fainted in the game! In the frickin' middle of the game!" She yelled.

"That was nothing. The doc said it'll go away soon, it's just a matter of time."
"Why are you so hell bent on denying that you're sick?"

"I. Am. Not. Sick." I said, slowly and clearly.

"Well you are!"

"Well, why don't you then just me leave if I'm too sick for you?" I snapped. This was so not going in the direction I wanted but I couldn't for the life of me calm down. Every freaking person in my life was saying the same thing like stuck on the same frequency of radio.

"We want to help you get help." She snapped back.

"You want me to quit basketball." I deadpanned. She stopped short.

"It's for your own good. The last game, anything could have happened there." Her voice quivered then, as her teary eyes met mine, breaking my heart into a thousand pieces but I did not get up and hold her. I was exhausted, absolutely tired, of this conversation. More than that, I was angry. Angry at people for thinking that they could take decisions for my life.

"I think you should go." I said in a flat voice without looking at her.

Her breath caught. She looked at me for a moment.

"Yeah." She said. "Maybe I should."

And she left.

Emily

"No Emma, I did not say you could use that! Matt put down that knife right n-

Riiing. Riiiiing.

"Hello?" I balanced my phone between my ear and shoulder and ran after Matt to grab the knife from his hand.

"Hey, Emily!" My heart skipped. I stopped short at this new feeling. This had never happened before. Not at Cal's voice at least.

"Hey." I sighed, at having finally snatching the knife away and hitting Matt towards his room.

"You sound busy...." He trailed. He sounded sad. Like he often did nowadays. I was pretty sure it had to do something with his parents, Olivia and basketball.
