Chapter 30 - I shouldn't have told you that.

"You know... we could be murderers and she'll never know."

I distantly heard a chuckle. Oh what a great sound that was. So manly and yet so soft. As it continued I noticed the slight musical tilt to it. My heart drummed and I smiled involuntarily, my eyes still closed. I could feel the sun on my face but I couldn't wake up just yet; I was having a particularly good time in my dream. I wished it didn't stop, yet it did to my dismay and my smile turned into a frown.

"Hey," I mumbled groggily, "Don't stop."

A voice giggled and a moment later I was drowning in icy water. My eyes flew open and I was instantly awake.

"Ooh!" I growled, my eyes narrowing at Al, leaning against the doorframe. "You're dead, Alicia Amelia Price. You. Are. So. Dead!"

Eyes widened she backed but stopped and moved closer to another human in my room I hadn't noticed earlier. Dave. I stopped short, my heart stopping with me and then suddenly racing at twice the speed.

It is nothing. You're just startled. Anyone would be after being soaked to death in ice cold water suddenly. No need to think much of it.

But when I looked at his figure, clad in a grey V-neck tee and lightly hung jeans, casually leaning against a wall, his eyes slightly amused and staring at me for far too long than was normal, I didn't quite believe my own words.

Mom entered then, laughed at my state for full five minutes before fakingly admonishing me to go change. This wasn't going according to my plans. This was completely out of the loop. I hadn't planned on wasting half of my Sunday. Or watching Dave as he had breakfast in our kitchen, laughing at what Al and mom said, like this was what he did everyday.

"You never study with me!" Al complained suddenly. I realized I had been staring at the scene in front of me all this time. I had to take a moment to understand what she was getting at. And still, I didn't have an answer. Because she was right.

"I needed her help. Like really really really needed it." Dave came to my rescue winking at me and then sending a smile at her. I saw her getting all moon eyed and something tugged at my heart.

"Well, it's fine then." She sighed.

"But anyways, thanks for your help this morning."

"For what?" I asked.

"Well, you were asleep when he came this morning so we decided to get a head start." Al answered chirply. I noticed I was quite closely noticing Al's behaviour today.

"Oh. Then why don't you two continue and I'll get my work done." I shrugged, trying to smile, but somehow it wasn't easy.

"Actually... you know what, that's right. What do you say Dave? And you gotta admit, I'm a pretty good teacher." She smirked.
