Chapter 18 - Like school? Yay or Nay? Definitely nay! Or maybe...... yay perhaps?
Alicia
"All this time how could you not know, baby-eeee, you belong with me-eeee. You belong with me!"
I danced around in my room, combing my hair and using the hairbrush as a mic pretending to be in my own music video. It was quite similar to Taylor's 'You belong with me'. I was in a tee, my hair messed up as I jumped all around and there was a guy staring at me from his window. The window, that was exactly in front of mine, giving both of us perfect view of each other's room. Not that I was interested in his at all to be honest.
He smirked, giving me a once over and I crossed my arms, taking a stand.
He then put a finger on his temple, rotated it twice, rolling his eyes and then pointed it at me.
My jaw dropped and I was at the window sill in an instant.
"You little-" I started, already climbing over.
His eyes widened.
"Mommyyyy."
My five year old neighbor then ran away with tail between his legs. Flipping my hair, I strode back into my room, dressed up, finished my look with applying a bit of lipstick and I was good to go.
My phone buzzed in my pocket.
Bae : I'll be taking the bus. Don't mind picking me :D
Ah well. I could never understand what went through my best friend's head. She rarely cancelled at last moments. But she must have a reason for it. She likes doing weird stuff. Stuff, I could hardly get. Maybe, she felt like going through twenty minutes mashing and bending today. Shrugging, I grabbed my bag and left my room skipping down the steps. It was a pity really, to go to school everyday, sit through hours of nonsensical words coming out of teachers, coming back home and repeating it all over again the next day. If I could, I would never go to school. But he happens to be there, in front of my eyes, every single day, beautiful as an angel, stealing my breath away and killing me slowly and pleasurably, like a sweet poison. School was where we met, school brought him into my life, and maybe, just maybe, I could like school for that.
Stepping through the school gates, my eyes searched for Dave, as they always did and I couldn't help the sinking feeling when they didn't. He was a punctual man, always on time, just like Steph. Roaming around the hallways at the few number of students gathered, my eyes did fall on something peculiar or maybe.....two! A grin immediately spit my face and my eyes brightened. First sight ensured gossip, the other just as much fun.
Oh boy! I'm lovin' this!
On one end I saw a familiar side profile of Hugh. He was standing with his hands on either side of a girl, who was giggling softly. He was just leaning in towards her when Greg jumped out of nowhere and grabbed Hugh by his collar. That is when he lost his balance on the slippery floor and fell, making Hugh fall on top of him. The girl, now that her face became visible, I recognized instantly as Jane, shrieked loudly at this sudden attack and I had to keep myself from bursting out laughing. Hugh had a lot of explaining to do. I wouldn't let go of such an opportunity to tease the hell outta him.
On the other hand, Jane's shriek had made another pair jump twenty feet apart. The queen bee and the Devil. Quite a couple I must say. Both had red faces, not unlike my friend and his girl, but judging by their expressions, it was totally the opposite matter. I had to keep my eyes and ears open today. I turned excitedly to share this to Steph and my smile dropped, realizing she wasn't here yet.
Okay, this is new. Steph is never late.
Like ever.
"Yo girlie!" Em greeted, coming up beside me. Then she glanced around.
"Where your twin at?"
"Steph's taking the bus today." I shrugged.
"Why?"
"Who knows."
"Well, true..... But still, she isn't here yet? Classes start in," She glanced at her watch, which quite strangely she wore in her right wrist, "about now."
"She's just late today I guess."
"Okay..." She drawled, "This is new." She repeated my earlier thoughts. We walked down the hallway, from where surprisingly, all three, Hugh, the girl Jane and Greg were vanished from now. Just before entering the class I looked around once more, searching for that face in the lingering students in the hallway and when they didn't appear, I almost walked in. Stopped and turned around.
"What.. Al where you going?" Em yelled as I sprinted back, and hid on a corner and peeked around it, finding her standing there with her jaw on the floor.
"Go!" I motioned with my hand. I needed one look at him. Just one. After that I could attend the classes with a peace of mind. Em started walking back to me, then the final bell rang, she looked conflicted and then heaving a sigh she went in (thankfully) but not before she sent a hell freezing glare my way. I had a lot to explain today.
I waited.
I waited some more.
Then I waited some more.
And then I realized, he wasn't coming. With a heavy heart I strode back towards the class and opened the door.
"Ms. Price!" Mr. WhoseNameICouldn'tPronounceForMyLife exclaimed, genuinely shocked that a student can be.... what? I checked my watch, thirty minutes for a class. The nerve!
"Yes sir!" I exclaimed just the same, stamping my right foot in attention. I heard a snicker, my eyes found Em and she smirked. I sent a wink her way.
"You're late!"
"Thank you Captain Obvious!" I saluted for real this time and the class burst out laughing. I grinned at them. I aim to pleasure.
"Detention Ms. Price. Please leave us to continue in peace." He said to me, while glaring at the class making them stop instantly.
"Your wish is my command sir! Right away sir!" I turned on my heel hearing a few fading snickers behind me.
My group attacked me at lunch, just before I had to go to the detention room. Bombarding me with questions, they held me, in the center, prowling around me in a circle.
"Oh God guys!! I'll tell you everything I promise! Hugh, I myself have some questions for you." his eyes widened and cheeks turned red.
I however, continued. "Greg..." He looked like a deer caught in headlights. "You too, beware." I rounded on Em.
"What?" She asked in a bored voice.
"Nothing, I just love you." I grinned earning a flying kiss in return.
The guys in desperation to change the topic rushed to ask what was bothering me today.
"Where's Steph?"
"I don't know, I called but she isn't answering her phone."
"Hey Hugh!" Greg suddenly called out.
"Have you seen Dave?" I asked.
"Nope....." He shook his head. "Steph isn't at school, is she? I didn't see her once."
"Naah." Em answered.
Weird.
"Weird." Greg worded my thoughts.
"Strange." Em smirked.
"Very strange." Hugh looked around at us, a ghost of a knowing smile on his face.
Weird.
