Chapter 7 - Missed her in my life
"This party sucks" I grumbled under my breath, snatching away my hand from the clingy girl for hundredth time. I glared at my teammate sitting beside me, drinking from a red cup and grinning like an idiot. It was him who had dragged me here.
To be honest the party was quite acceptable. But it just wasn't the same without the guys. I glanced at my drunk teammates, half of them already passed out on the couch but none of them a good company. Atleast if I had the guys with me, I would actually have a good time. A smile tugged at my lips just thinking about them. I always wondered how I managed to snag such good people to accept me for who I am.
"Dude, you gotta stop sulking and start enjoying.... Hey! Beer pong!" Steve said before marching away swaying dangerously.
"Cal, baby," she slurred beside me, "Come on let's dance." Her hand snaked around my arm and I pulled away.
"I'm sorry, but no thanks." Not bothering to say anything more I pushed myself away from the bar, thinking about going to the pool, hoping something interesting to happen there. Loud music was pumping around, making my heart beat with the tempo. But today, I just didn't feel it. Walking by the living room transformed into a dance floor I let my eyes wander about everyone gathered. It seemed every teen possible in town was present except for my sweet little friends.
Or not.
Was it? No... it can't be, can it? I would've known.
There's no reason it couldn't be though.
I blinked hard. Was that Al or were my eyes deceiving me? It was dark enough for that to happen. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I saw a text from Steph.
Al's going to that big party with some guys. I know you'll be there.
Keep her safe.My heart warmed at Steph's thoughtfulness. Confused I glanced back at the figure I had thought to be Al. Al never went anywhere without Steph or Em. Al never did things without telling us about it.
She did cut her hair and dye it pink.
Yes, well if she had told us we would've stopped her and I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want that. Al was known to do stupid things; more like reckless spontaneous things. For example the time when she walked down three blocks to my house, mugged me out of my motorcycle keys and rode around the town just because she was bored.
At midnight.
All in all, she never thought twice about anything. So, it was no surprise that she came over to a party with some strangers which, I might add all of us would strongly recommend against. Al was coming down the stairs, swaying, undoubtedly drunk, with a guy steadying her. She looked like she could pass out any moment now and I made my way towards the pair. Bumping and pushing quite a lot of people I reached her just as the guy started advancing. She was wasted but I could see her struggling.
"Don't...no..." Her weak voice reached me and my jaw clenched. I saw her pushing him in vain and my hand shot up, grabbing the guy at his collar and bringing him close.
