Chapter 6 - You don't get to say you're bored.
“So…. Stephanie tell us something about yourself.” I looked up from my book and glance at Guy #2 who smiled at me in a weird way. It grossed me out.
“My name's Stephanie.” I looked down again irritated when he laughed the fakest laugh in the history of fake laughs.
“Well, we had established that already. Anyway, what do you like to do for fun?” His hand inched towards mine on the table and I jerked away, grabbing my coke.
“Sleep.” I stated grimacing when he laughed that laugh again.
I tilted my head towards the eyes twinkling, stupidly grinning, eyelashes batting Al and whispered, “What’s so funny?” She just sighed in response
Okay then.
“Here's a great idea.” Guy #1 began, “why don't you two come with us to the party at our friend’s place?”
“Here's a great idea.” I started, “why don't we two go home and sleep?” I looked pointedly at Al.
“Their is a better one.” She agreed with a nod.
“But Al!” I protested to no avail. I knew when she has made up her mind she won't hear a word I say. Anyway it was better for her to go the party if it meant she could forget what happened in school.
“Who are all coming?” She asked them excitedly.
“Our school, your school, pretty much every teen in the town.” They grinned. Quite creepily. I made a mental note to call Greg and Cal later and make sure they take care of her. Because of course if there's a party in town, it means they're there.
Al's eyes lit up with determination as she turned to look at me.
Uh oh. I'm in trouble.
I panicked thinking about excuses to not go. Nothing was gonna work with her. How do I get away?
Riiiing. Riiiing.
Saved by the bell had never proven so right to me as it did when my phone rang at that moment. I excused myself quickly and swiped the screen without looking at the caller ID.
“Hello?”
“Steph?” Greg's voice called out.
“Greg!” I sighed in relief. “Help me please.” I pleaded.
“What is it? Where are you? I'm coming! Don't worry, I'll be there in a minute. Just tell me where you are. Steph! Speak up!” He said, panic rising in his voice and I stifled a laugh. I could hear ruffling on other side and knew he was rushing his way to me. He had always been the cute protective one.
“Greg, stop. Breathe. I'm not in a trouble.”
“You said help…” he trailed taking a relieved breath.
“Yes! I meant save me from Al and her antics. Take me with you to whatever you are up to.” I begged.
“I called up just for that.” I could hear the grin in his voice.
“Wait! It should not be that party.” I pressed.
“Of course not.” He dismissed. “Are you ready for some shopping?” I could imagine him wagging his eyebrows.
