After the holidays Tina and her family returned home, they didn't know about the two loses and because of that they were all smiles when they returned to the neighborhood. Everything was brought inside and everyone settled. The flight had been long and the three kids just wanted to talk to their friends. Lukas started texting Mathias, there was no answer, Tina started texting Gunnar but there wasn't any answer either. They both tried again and again until they decided to call them. They tried about three times until someone picked up, the police Sargent had done so.
"Hello?" He said as he picked up Mathias's phone. Lukas was taken back by the deeper voice and the level of respect the voice's owner had when he spoke to him, Mathias would have just yelled and laughed.
"This is Lukas... I think I have the wrong number, I was trying to call my friend, Mathias." Lukas spoke a little confused by why Mathias's number had brought him to this man.
"I'm sorry to tell you this son, but this is Mathias's phone, I'm the police Sargent... You're friend was in a terrible car wreak just before Christmas, he's dead." The man spoke as Lukas brought a hand to his mouth, tears burning his eyes and words not daring coming forwards. He dropped his phone from where he sat on the edge of his bed, it fell to the floor and the screen cracked and the phone call was ended. Lukas sat there in silence for a moment then as tears and sobbed wracked his body he threw himself at his bed, hugging a pillow tightly to himself as he buried his face into it and muffled his tears. Lukas had broken character, he was usually the one who didn't cry but his heart was shattered and tears seemed to be the only think that came to him, no rational thoughts what so ever.
Then came when Tina call's got answered by the Sargent.
"Hi Gunnar!" She beamed as Sargent picked up.
"I'm sorry young lady, what's you're name?" He asked his heart heavy in his chest as he had already to broke someone's heart with the news, he didn't want to do so again in a short amount of minutes.
"Ugh... I'm Tina, I think I have the wrong number, I'm sorry." She said as she went to hang up, feeling a bit sheepish for doing so but the man stopped her.
"No, you have the right number, this is Gunnar's phone." He told her, bringing her back to the line.
"Oh, well why do you have his phone?" Tina asked as worry and confusion took her over, did this man steal Gunnar's phone or something happen to him? Her heart raced in her chest as she waited for the man to answer.
"I'm Sargent Johnson and I have to tell you some bad news about your friend..." He said as Tina could barely breath as she waited for what felt like a eternity for the man to tell her.
"Gunnar was in a very bad car crash, he died, I'm sorry for you're lose and that you had to find out this way. " He said as Tina heard the phone call end. Tina sat there and couldn't believe what had happened, her friend, no her best friend... had died. In a car crash, she couldn't breathe, her chest sized and her world started getting cloudy, darkness creeping in around her. No, this couldn't be true, why did everyone she loved and treasured leave in that way. It wasn't fair, her parents and now Gunnar... Her parents, when those memories snuck into her mind she couldn't stop herself.
She had tried to get up and walk out of her room but she fell down when she reached her door, she couldn't see and had hit the frame. She was haft in her room and haft in the hallway, her parents in the living room heard her fall and as they headed down the hall and as they heard two of their children sobbing beyond belief. One out loud and the other trying their best to stay quiet. Anna went to tend to Lukas and Tina was helped by her father.
"Honey, what's wrong, are you okay?" He asked as he held her in his arms. She shook her head quickly as she sobbed.
"Where's it hurt, sweetie?" He asked, thinking she had hurt herself in her fall but she put a hand to her heart and he looked down at her.
