With the new school year coming up Samantha found herself in her room, gathering her courage to tell her family. So as she spoke these three little words would send her world into a downward spiral... Samantha had been pacing her room for hours now, many days had ended in her lack of this courage to tell them her news. But not tonight she had gotten her courage to that level where fear was unknown to her. She walked down stairs and let the words slip forth from her lips and echo through the night air that filled her living room. 'I am transgender' but things didn't go as she had planned...
That night was filled with fighting, yelling and cursing. Her mother sobbed, her father yelled that they had a daughter and they already had enough sons and they just wanted their daughter. They wanted her to stay the little pink package that they had brought home. Most of her brothers cursed at her and then went to their rooms. All except for Ron who stood in front of her with a cold gaze, he let out a slur before he too made his way up the stairs. Samantha then huffed and ran up the stairs and pushed her brother out of her way. He stood there for a moment as he noticed the strength and anger in her movements. He closed the door as he cursed not only himself but this damn night all together.
When school started she told the little friends she had and they accepted her in a way that she had not thought would happen. They quickly to the best of their abilities switched pronouns and used the name he had chosen for himself. He had given himself the name Tino. It was short, simple and farthest he could be from that cursed name that burned through so many official documents and forms. But even if his school friends loved him as he was he was still in that awful situation at home. No progress was ever made when he was with them. He cut his hair short in the school's bathroom, a friend helping with a pair of old scissors trying to make a sort of pixie cut at first. He looked in the mirror as he touched it, his friend looking at him through the glass.
"Is it good?..." He asked as the bathroom door opened. He shot a glare at the boy who entered, a second year high school student.
"Get out, men's room is under lock down at the moment, boo." He said as he shooed the boy away, he let out a groan and went on his way, it was lunch so they knew that most kids wouldn't be in here. Most of the students didn't linger in the hallways and go out or stay in the cafeteria.
"Don't worry I know that look and I came prepared." Matt said with a smile on his face as he pulled out a electric razor from his bag and plugged it into the wall outlet. The razor was then switched on and Matt then started to lean in to shave his head.
"No, I want to but at the same time... I don't... Matt you know how my family is, doing this alone is a huge deal. Maybe neck time I need a haircut, okay...?" Tino asked as Matt noticed the slight fear in his voice, he switched the razor off and put his things back in his school bag.
"Whatever you say, by the way you look hella cute with that new do or yours. Now let's get out here, the men's room is disgusting..." Matt said with an overly exaggerated voice as his face made Tino laugh.
"At least this bathroom doesn't have sanitary pads everywhere or smell like toxic perfumes." Tino joked as they walked out of the bathroom after checking if any teachers were coming their way.
"Is that actually a thing in there?..." Matt asked as Tino shoved him a bit as they walked down the hall.
"Stop it..." Tino said as he reverted to his quiet voice. Matt looked over at him as they walked down the halls to their lockers. Matt had known Tino for a long time, a few years... But he had always known Tino to be absent minded. He was physically here but his mind was offend miles or even light years away from where his feet were taking him now. His eyes were clouded as he reached his locker, his body doing things out of memory and nothing more. He picked up his books to just have a strong hand slam it closed.
