Line of Time

Busy Morning

Soon after a very busy day of helping Miss Cooper, Tino was falling asleep where he sat. They had been sitting outside while they waited for the boys to come home and by the time they did and May heard them coming down the street she looked over at Tino. He was sound asleep in his chair, she smiled over at him and then the boys burst through the gate. She quickly brought a finger to her lips and they went silent as they then looked over at there sleeping friend. 

"How long has he been asleep?" Lukas asked as they walked up to them. 

"Not long, but don't wake him up, okay, he's had a long day. He was helping me." She said as her boys eyed him and then returned their gaze to their mother. 

"He helped you?" Berwald asked.

"When we help you, we can barely keep our eyes open..." Lukas said as he looked over at him. 

"Our eyes open, speak for yourself, I pass out when I see my bed." Mathias stated as he looked down at his younger brother. 

"It's not that bad, he didn't complain as much as you four and he's already hurt." Miss Cooper said as the boys gave her a look before she giggled at her boys. 

"I'm joking, he didn't do most of what you do, but he did what he could. Remember the things you do have you on your feet for most of the day, he can't do that so I gave him the jobs I used to give to Erin." She explained as they gave a sigh of relief and smiled, knowing that their friend hadn't been doing their chores for them while they were gone. 

From then on May went inside and worked on making dinner while the boys stayed outside to wait for Chase to get home, Tino was still asleep and they made sure to stay quiet as so not to wake him. Then as they were helping each other with homework they heard Chase's old truck pull into the parking lot. They sprang to their feet and ran off to met him. They watched as he walked towards them with a smile and they showed him a finger over their lips. 

"Why the 'sh' gesture, guys?" He asked as he opened the gate and walked in the general area. 

"Because Tino's asleep." They whispered to him as he nodded and put his finger over his lips as well to match what they were doing. Miss Cooper smiled from her window as she saw Chase playing along with the kids. 

"...Hey bud, big day for you too, huh?..." Chase whispered as he picked Tino up in his arms. 

"He was helping Mommy with things she needed to do today." Erin stated as he looked up from his word problems. 

"I hope May didn't work him to hard..." Chase said as Lukas shock his head. 

"She gave him Erin's old jobs, there easy compared to what we do." He told Chase which put him to ease about things. He tussled up their hair before walking away. 

"Tell your mom I said thank you. She really helped me out today and thanks to you guys for looking out for him so much." Chase said with a smile as they nodded before running off into their apartment to tell her. He then walked up the stairs and when he opened the door is when Tino woke up. He lifted his head off of his dad's shoulder and looked at his oil stained face with a dazed smile. 

"You're home." Tino said sleepily as he rubbed an eye and let out a yawn. 

"Yeah, but I think I'm going to bed early tonight, how bout you?" He asked as walked inside and put him down in his chair. Tino nodded and yawned again. 

"Kay then, bathroom and then pajamas." Chase said as Tino wheeled himself off to the bathroom to get ready for bed. Chase washed up in the kitchen sink and then got changed in his room. Then just as he was going to check on Tino he saw him appear in his door way. Chase smiled at him.
