The boys prepared their bikes for the trip, remembering their plan. Of how to get there, how to get inside and then how to retrace their steps to find the gang once again. Mathias gathered what little gas they would be taking. Gunnar making sure the bikes could ride without needing repairs and the Chase found some old blankets and put them down in the side car. Making a sort of padding where the old seat had long since been worn down.
"You boys better make sure that kid makes it through all this." Chase said as he seemed to have a tear in his eye. The two boys looked up at him from their places as they had now stopped checking their bikes.
"Chase... Chase are you crying?" Mathias asked as if he was seeing something that should never be happening.
"No, of course I'm not crying. I'm just... You two just make sure Kelly gets her boy back in good health. She wants all three of her boys home as soon as she can have them... But she wants all three. So you make sure your brother makes it, I don't care what you half to do. Tino comes home, end of story, got it?" He said as his voice seemed to break a bit as his words left his lips.
"We don't plan on leaving him behind." Gunnar said as he went back to his work.
"Never leave a man behind, sir... I remember when you told us that." Mathias said as Chase gave a smile, cleaning his eyes with his sleeve.
"Good boys..." He said before he walked off. Mathias looked up at the edge of the skyline.
"We should hurry, we'll be leaving soon, finish up and then I'll help you go get Tino." Mathias said as Gunnar gave a grunt, not really hearing his brother as he squinted to see in the dim light under the bike motor before he rolled over and then pushed himself up. Mathias not far behind him as they stood. They looked at each other giving a nod before walking back inside the bar. Yelling could be heard from outside and then they realized what was going on. The argument was because they were bringing Tino into the inner walls of the civilization.
Gunnar didn't seem to care about their opinion. They had no one to care about... most of these new members they had picked up had no one with them at the time. They were alone for a long time and thus they were used to leaving people once they outlived their usefulness. Not here, they were a family. It was time like this when Gunnar questioned why Kelly and the others had let them in...
Mathias fallowed Gunnar into the back room, they found Tino and as Gunnar lifted him to his feet, Mathias wrapped him in a leather jacket and a blanket. From there Gunnar picked him up bridal style and walked outside. He heard the newer members yell at him but he didn't pay them any attention. Mathias was right behind him but he caught that they weren't letting this go. Yelling about this was a waste of gas and energy for someone who would die no matter what.
Well it was only when Gunnar had safely put his brother in the side car of the bike he was to be driving that he gave the newer members his attention. Mathias had seen the fire that burned in his normally icy eyes.
"Shit..." Was the only thing Mathias could say under his breath as he watched as the newer members still made their comments and opinions known. Kelly stood in the background, obviously not happy either, Chase trying to calm her down while he struggle with his own anger. A few others who had been riding with them since Gunnar and Tino were young... they started fuming as well. This was their family the older members understood, they had all had families before this all started but these newer people... the younger ones. They hadn't had families in the start so why would they care for one now.
All it took was one more comment about the fact that Tino would die and that it would be a good thing because he was weak... That is what caused the first punch to fly and it seemed to be a one punch that would have started the fight that would end it.
Within a split second, Gunnar was on top of a newer member, his usually reserved attitude was out the window and he was beating the tar out of another person. The rest of the gang watched as the two of them fought. Newer members trying to get Gunnar off him. It didn't work Mathias tried to get them off Gunnar but it seemed as though Gunnar had swatted them all away like flies.
After a moment or so of everyone staring. Gunnar removed himself from the bloody member. His eyes still held anger but Kelly saw that the fire had died down. The new members yelled for justice and found their den mother's cold eyes in the place of sympathy. A lioness looking at a pack of scared hyenas. She cocked an eyebrow at them and that seemed enough to give them enough of an idea of what would await them. One of them gave their last argument, hopefully to win her in their favor.
"This is a family, not a rivalry... I had hoped that you boys would have seen that, that you would have integrated enough to see what 'family' means. We help our own, we helped you and now you say that we can't help another. You'll see where I'm coming from when I say that you have three choices. One you can leave without a word, leave the bikes and the gear. Leave with what you walked in to our gang with... Or... Two you stay and be a part of us, where the elder members of the gang make the rules... Three you can stand there real still like and then drop dead." Kelly said with poison in her voice, the other members giving a grin as they reached for their pistols, they knew the newer members had none to speak of or if they had they offend left them in the bikes or on the bar.
Kelly motioned for Mathias and Gunnar to get moving, Tino didn't have any time to lose. With that signal they were off.
As their tires ran against pavement and the motors roared in the morning air. Gunnar looked over to his twin brother and saw a peaceful face.
"How's he doing?" Mathias asked over the roar over of the wind and the motors.
"He'll be fine if we get there at the speed were going." Gunnar answered.
"You wanna see how fast these bad boys can actually go, you head up the rear I'll scout out the front as we go." Mathias said as Gunnar gave him a nod. Mathias blasting his engine and racing up the road and Gunnar giving his brother a last look.
"Buckle up... We're getting you somewhere where you can get better." Gunnar told him as Tino tugged on the blanked as Gunnar heard a crackle of gunshots in the distance behind them... He guessed that the newer members had chosen their fates by now and that was their choice. Kelly was usually a really nice woman but when you crossed her and threatened the survival of her family, her people and her gang. There was no limits to her cruelty. This gave her a reputation around the gangs they had met in the past and had done deals with. A sort of two faced standard and defensive quality to her.
Gunnar noticed that the sun was rising higher now. Mathias and him made good time in getting to the walled off city that was closest to them. It happened to be one of the biggest ones that Gunnar had ever seen. Mathias on the other could argue that there were bigger ones that he had seen before he had met Gunnar and Tino while he was still riding with either in Chase's side car or on the front or back of Kelly's bike. This city had to let them in, they had to help them. They just had to, Gunnar couldn't stand the thought of losing his brother, they had been together in the beginning of all this. Gunnar had spent his life protecting him and he would be damned if he let him die now.
