______________
I'm sitting in my room watching Netflix when Annabelle calls. I stop for a minute because she hasn't really called in a while. I slide my finger across the screen and answer."Hello?"
"What did you do?" She asks, frantically.
"Excuse me?"
"Cam came over here in distress and he says he doesn't know what he did, so what did you do?"
I pause for a moment. "I don't know. He just ... I don't know." I respond, catching an attitude only because I don't know what to say to that.
"No Leighton, you guys were going so well. Things were so good!"
"What do you want me to do, Annabelle?"
"I want you to come over and make up with him." She exclaims, getting louder.
"I'm busy right now," I lie, looking up at my TV to see Elena kiss Damon. Wow, that's not fair. She gets both brothers?
"I bet you're not."
"I really am, Damon and Elena are getting really steamy over here."
"You know what, Leighton, fine. Be stubborn. But Cameron cares about you, and don't think you can treat him like Clarity did. Because she was a total bitch and I won't be here to comfort him again! Listen to him complain about how he's lost and confused and listen to him rant about how he doesn't know what he did wrong. So fine, be that way." Then I hear the sound letting me know the call has ended.
I stare at my phone for a minute, letting my heart drop to my feet. She did a damn good job at my making me feel bad.
I slide out of bed, grab a jacket, slip on some black jeans and black vans, and walk downstairs. I take my keys and walk out the door.
When I get to Annabelle's house, the sun's high in the sky. I take the keys out of the ignition and let the bad thoughts vanish from my mind.
I knock on her door, and it doesn't take long for her to open, looking at me like I'm the devil.
"Glad you had a change of heart." She says dryly.
I roll my eyes and step in. "Where is he?" She points down the hall, closing the door behind me.
I walk down the hall, following the sound of a television. The sound gets closer as I approach the back room. I see Cameron sitting in front of the TV, nearly falling asleep.
"Cam," I quietly pronounce. His head bounces up and his eyes dart my way.
For a minute, he looks confused but then he fixes his shirt and stands up, towering over me as usual.
I walk over to the bed as he says, "Hey," groggily.
"Hi," I answer, plopping down on the bed. He opens his mouth, but I cut him off. "Before you say anything, can I say something?"
He nods and shrugs, leaning against the TV stand.
"I'm ... I'm sorry I yelled at you for no reason. I just ... you made me mad when you laughed about ... ya know ... that thing. I don't know, I still shouldn't have been a bitch to you. I really am sorry." Only now do I look up into his eyes. He's smiling. "What?"
"Was that hard for you?" I assume he's talking about apologizing, so I nod. "Then I forgive you." He inches closer to me.
"You do?" I didn't think it would be that easy. I rarity apologize.
"Yeah," he sits down next to me, stretching his arms out beside him. "Let's make a deal."
I turn sideways, letting my knee slide in the space between his arm and waist. I run a hand through my hair and smile slightly. "Okay?"
"Every time we're about to fight, let's just stop and think, "is this really worth fighting over?" and if it honestly is, then proceed. But if it isn't, you have to apologize and tell me it wasn't worth it. Same goes for me." He smiles contently, letting his hand fall on my thigh.
I move my lips to the side, pondering on it for a while, then I look at him - the same facial expression plastered across his face - and nod with a smile.
He smiles as his eyes wonder down to my lips. "Should we kiss now or...?"
I laugh and lean in, letting him kiss my lips softly. His right hand slides up and down my thigh as his left hand strokes my cheek. I pull back slightly, only to feel his lips connect to mine again.
"So you guys are good?" I hear Annabelle's voice call out from behind us. I pull away from Cameron and look at her.
"Yes, Annabelle." Cameron mumbles, looking down.
She smiles, knowing she got her way, and prances out of the door frame.
