~Friday~
Carter walks into the ISS room with a wide smile on her face. "Why are you so happy?"
"Well, Ms. Greene, I have news. News that you might want to hear."
"Spill."
"Cameron's holding a party tonight."
I scrunch my face up before smiling, remembering when we kissed. "What does that have to do with me?" I ask, trying to play it off.
"He told everyone to tell you about it! He never said why, though..." She seems to be giving off a different vibe about Cameron since when I first met her.
"You seem happier than usual about Cameron." I note, tugging on my ear.
"Oh, I'm not happy about him." She lets her head fall on her hands and looks up with gleamy eyes. "Taylor's going to be there."
"Taylor Caniff?"
"That's him." She smiles, showing her almost perfectly straight teeth.
"You like him?"
"For...quite some time now. Don't say anything. Please." She begs, pulling at my arm. I laugh at her childish ways.
"Tell you what, how about you come over tonight and we get ready for the party. Maybe go to the mall?" I smile at her.
She nods excitedly before answering. "Sounds great. I need a new outfit anyway."
After school, I drive home, feeling content I actually have a car to drive home with. When I get inside, I see a note from my mom saying she has to work a night shift, so she won't be home until 7 in the morning. That works perfectly because I texted Taylor and asked if him, Annabelle, and Nash wanted to stay over. I didn't want to invite Cameron, because everyone might get the wrong idea, considering he did throw the party for me.
Around 4 o'clock, Carter comes by. We go to the mall and find our outfits. I wear grey light washed high waisted shorts, a white 'Barbie' crop top, and my grey and white high top Adidas. Carter comes out in pink and purple ombré high waisted shorts, a black 'For Real' sweater tucked in, and all black low top converse. "You look cute." I tell her, as she wears a cute blue bow in her curly hair, and a decent amount of makeup with her lipstick color matching her hair.
"Thanks! So do you." She informs. I only put on pink lipstick, winged my eyeliner, and put my hair in a messy fish tail braid to the side with a red banana wrapped in my hair, tied at the top. "Ready to go?" I nod and grab my purse from my bed. I grab my keys and walk downstairs, Carter behind me.
"Are you ready to see Taylor?" I say unlocking the doors to my car. She giggles and nods, putting her black painted nail in between her teeth. "He's gonna stay over tonight." I tell her, while starting up the car. She gasps and I look over at her. "What?"
"I look ugly without makeup! He can't see me."
"Carter, if he really liked you for you, he wouldn't care."
"That's the thing, Leighton, he doesn't like me at all." We laugh and pull away, ready to go to the party.
Cameron's house is even more beautiful at night. You can see the inside of his house through his large rectangular window. A bunch of people talk outside, but the real party is inside. Carter gets out of the car. I follow behind, in awe of all I see. She throws her arms around me and looks at me. "I haven't been to a party in so long, Leighton. I'm so ready to let loose." When we walk in, a couple guys stare at us. Carter goes full out, winking at some, or biting her lip. I sheepishly smile, walking behind her.
