~Monday~
I put on a black skirt, a white 'cute outfit day' sweater tucked in, and some black Jeffery Campbell's with brown heels. I want to make Cameron notice me today. Dylan and I talked on the phone until 1 last night, and he kept hinting that 1. he likes me and 2. he wants to replace Cameron. I drive to school, anxious of what's going to happen. Cameron's been texting and calling all weekend, ever since the fight, but I haven't been answering.
I pull up to the school and park the car. A couple guys stare at me when I walk in. I hear a whistle and frown, because I'm not a dog. I go to the cafe, stalling from going to class. I walk past my first period, pretending to be on my phone and bump into someone. "Leighton." I know that voice. Dallas. I roll my eyes and start walking off, but he grabs my arm. I jerk loose and glare at him.
"What?" I spit to him.
"Can we talk?" He steps closer to me, looking down at me with innocence in his eyes.
I sigh and look away, crossing my hand over my chest and wrapping my fingers around my arms. "You did enough talking Cameron."
"I'm sorry, okay? I was a dick, you were right. I don't know what you went through with your dad, and I should'nt've told Carter you were in the hospital." He tries to look me in my eyes, but they stay glued to the floor. "Can you please forgive me? I can't stand fighting like this."
I look at him, and feel my cheeks burn a little. "Okay..." I mumble. I always give people second chances. And third. And fourth. It's a bad habit of mine, because my mind always says "maybe they've changed" or "what if they really are trying to get better". I did that with my dad, way too many times. Some people simply ... can't change their bad habits.
He smiles and puts his fingers around my waist. "Say you forgive me." He demands into my cheek.
"I forgive you." I can't help but smile. I missed the touch of his skin. Or the feel of his lips on me. He kisses my neck and I feel his hot breath hit me, which makes me know that he's smiling. "What?"
He takes my arms and wraps them around his neck. "You look hot today."
I laugh and push him off of me. "You're stupid." I murmur, walking into class.
"But you do." I hear him stumbling behind me, more giggly than ever. "I've missed you." He sneaks a kiss on my cheek as I slide into my desk. He sits in front of me, but turns around.
"I've missed you too." I smile at him. He leans in for another kiss, but I move back. "This is PDA, Dallas." He laughs and starts to rub my thigh. I react without thinking and grab his hand. He bites down on his lip and smirks. I raise my eyebrow, warning him. He continues rubbing my thigh, getting closer and closer to the brim of my skirt. When he slides under it slickly, I dig my nails in his hand. He whines a bit, and moves his hands. He pretends to stretch and laughs when his run against his chest, fingers tracing the outside of where his nipples would be. I laugh and shake my head, looking away.
For the rest of class, all Cameron does is pay attention to me. Even when he's threatened with detentions or whatever, he just continues showing me affection or talking to me. It's lunch now, and he hasn't let go of my hand since we first met up. We meet Annabelle and Nash, and go to get our food. "You guys are too cute." Annabelle whispers to me when Nash goes to get fries. I smile and blush, but try and cover it up.
Cameron wraps his arms around my waist and says, "What do you want babe?"
"Pizza? Cameron watch your hands." I laugh as his fingers wander around my body. He laughs and kisses my neck. He grabs two trays with pizza on them. We get our food and sit in one of the larger booths. "Why are we sitting here today?"
"Uh, Carter said to." Nash explains.
"Carter?" Cameron pauses and we all look at him. He looks down at me before playing it off with a smirk. "That chick from my party?"
"Yeah." Annabelle answers, knowing what the problem is. I see Taylor's tall figure out of the corner of my eye.
"Here comes Taylor." I inform them. They all look up and greet him.
"Hey guys, have you seen Carter?" He asks. I grin a little because I know what's going on here.
"She should be here soon." I smile at him and he returns it, a bit sheepishly. Cameron clings tighter to my side, making my eyes dart towards him. "Cam.."
"Sorry." He blandly states, eyeing Taylor down with the dirtiest look. I stare at him for a minute, before kissing his cheek and wrapping my arms around his waist. He looks down at me, unexpectedly, before smiling. I only did this because I don't want Cameron to punch Taylor's face in. Don't get me wrong, I mean, I'm not doubting Taylor's strength, but the way Cameron was beating that guy at the party that night ... it was a bit much.
Taylor sits on the other side of the booth, and crosses his fingers, staring back at Cameron. I feel like Cam's the alpha wolf and Taylor's the one wolf who doesn't have the guts to say what's on his mind. "Here comes Carter." Nash tells us. All of our eyes dart towards Carter, as she walks, seemingly perfect, towards us.
"Hey.." We all exchange hi's, except Cameron, who keeps his eyes connected to the table. "Cameron ... can you move over?" He doesn't move. Everyone look at him, puzzled, as his body sits motionless.
"Cameron." I speak. His eyes move slowly to me. "Move over..." He seems to step out of some phase. He mumbles something as he looks at Carter, then back at me, before actually moving. His fists are clenched tightly when I take his cold hand in mine and rub it gently. All the hairs on his arm are sticking up, and goosebumps cover him, even though it's, like, 89 degrees in here. "Are you okay?" I whisper in his ear. He's too distant. It's like his body's there, but his mind is absent. He nods with an open mouth, looking as good as dead, now.
He doesn't talk for the rest of the lunch period, which makes me feel awkward. Taylor and Carter just smiled at each other every so often, also awkward. Nash and Annabelle stayed on their phones, which adds to my final point. This was a shitty, awkward lunch. It's like we were on a plane, and everything just went downhill when we all boarded.
We're all walking to our classes now. I pull Cameron's arm, and drag him back to where I am. "What's up with you?"
He arches his eyebrows and smiles, confused. "What?"
"You got all weird ever since lunch." I explain, a bit annoyed. "It was strange. You wouldn't even talk to me."
His right eyebrow folds under, as pity sets in his face. He looks deeply confused about .. well, pretty much life. "I ... I'm sorry? I don't know what..." He trails off trying to remember.
Now I'm getting mad. "You're not an idiot, Cameron."
"Babe, calm down." His fingers reach for my waist but I push him away.
I smack his hands away and step back. "Stop. No, don't tell me to calm down. You get strange every time someone mentions Carter!" I bluntly stick the pieces together. He just stares down at me, saying nothing. I scoff and push past him.
He mumbles, "Leighton," but he doesn't bother to call it again after I ignore him. What's his problem? I can't comprehend why Carter's name strikes him as fascinating.
Maybe I'm overreacting? Should I go back? I don't know. He's just acting so stupid. And weird. Whatever, who cares...~~~
