I woke up in bed. I yawned, the exhaustion made my muscles ache. My jaw felt slack as if I had been talking or singing all day, and my voice felt hoarse. Memories flooded my mind as I remembered what happened. JASON HYPNOTIZED ME! Oh, he is SO gonna pay! What did he make me do? Why was I here?I looked around, I was clearly in Jason's bed . . . OH SHIT. I quickly got up, scurrying the sheets around me. He didn't- we didn't- he wouldn't DARE!
I felt my hands burn like coals as I looked into a mirror. I still didn't have my glasses on. Sure enough, my eyes were the same dull, boring brown, but at the moment, I couldn't be happier!
The door opened to reveal Jason, as he took one glance at me. "Oh, shit," he mumbled as he tried to escape. I used my powers to drag him to me, then at the same time made pillows beat him. I could feel his power trying to take control of me, but I was too angry at the moment, so I was able to resist.
"WHAT. THE. HELL. DID. YOU. DO!" I screamed, hitting him with a pillow for each syllable.
"UNCLE! UNCLE!" He shouted, trying to make a force field to protect him from the angry pillows. I stopped, and growled to him, pushing him against the wall with my power.
"You have five minutes before I burn your cute ass into a crisp" I didn't even blush, though I would have under normal circumstances, at my embarrassing comment. "Fine, fine! I'll tell you what I can!" he pleaded. With that, he fell to the floor and rubbed his arse.
Yeah, this feels so romantic for a potential mate. Not.
"OK, I needed information from you. OK? But you couldn't know what it was, or what you told me. I didn't make you do anything weird- or bad, OK? I promise I'm not like that. You fell asleep so I just put you in the bed but NOTHING happened alright? I swear," he said.
"So you aren't gonna even tell me what information I gave you? I could have given it to you ya know, NOT under control! What information can I have that's so different from the rest, huh?" I asked him.
"I'm sorry, I can't tell you. Trust me," he said, scratching the back of his neck. I glared at him, "How am I supposed to trust you after this? Jason, you're the closest person to me here, but I guess it isn't the same for you. You betrayed me!"
He opened his mouth to argue when the door opened, revealing Richard. "Man, I can barely walk! Dude, at least you know how to get revenge, but at least I might get abs! Oh, Emera, you finally woke up. Mine wore off about an hour ago," Richard said. He was in a wheelchair from the exercise, but his arms did look less, um, weak than from when he first got here.
I pushed past him and headed to the art room I was at towards the beginning of our arrival. We've been here for months, but I wasn't sure when we would leave.
I went, and saw Zoey there, painting what looked to be some sort of anime-mermaid. Her long black hair was tied up in a messy bun, wisps of hair fell around her face. Her shirt already had paint splotches on them, as well as her jeans. "Hey, Zoey," I grumbled, taking a seat next to her.
"Rough day?" she smiled. "It just started, but yeah," I said. "Wanna talk about it?" she asked me. I nodded simply as she sat down, taking a break from the painting. "We've been here for like, 3-4 months. What about our family and friends? I mean, won't they be worried? And, I kinda miss home. I love all of you guys, but something feels, well . . ." I said. I wasn't in the mood to talk about Jason, and I felt like this was something Zoey could relate to better.
She nodded, "I know how you feel. I mean, I can't help but wonder what is going on with my dad. I mean, no one really knows where we are, and we only saw our school. Shouldn't they be worried? And, we're literally in a mansion in the middle of nowhere, so we can't go back really." She sighed. I nodded. It all seemed so strange at the moment.
I realized, my feelings for Jason seemed to be, well, slowly fading. Before all of this mind trick stuff. It was developing more into a 'friend' phase. And maybe, Jason felt the same way . . .That's what it felt like at least.
Were we really not meant to be together?
Tears poked from the corners of my eyes. It was all so confusing. Maybe I needed a break from Jason, but how was I supposed to do that when we practically lived together?
I sighed, it really seemed hopeless.
C'mon, Emera, think about anything else.
I thought of a desert, a cactus here and there, golden sand everywhere. Tumble weeds and foxes, a hot sun. I closed my eyes and breathed deeply. I could practically smell the golden dune, and feel the hot, beating sun radiating against my skin.
Zoey gasped.
"Emera, what are you doing?" she asked. She seemed to stare off into the distance. Her pink eyes looking off, blankly, at nothing, darting back and forth.
"What?" I asked. I didn't think I was doing anything. I tried distracting my self again, this time imagining a jungle, wet, with many creatures.
"THAT!" She jumped up and pointed at me. "You-you made me see a desert! Then a jungle! But it wasn't there! Was it? No, it was an illusion! You have the power of illusions! That means you have 4 powers already! And you will have 5 powers! Oh my goodness, I have to tell them!" She ran out before I could even process the information.
Have I 4 powers? I'll HAVE 5 powers?!
I started wishing I had less. When will I just GET my highlights?!
I looked at my hair, same dull brown as before. I huffed and went to meet the others.
They were all in the kitchen, and it looked like chaos.
"YOU HAVE FIVE POWERS? How is that even POSSIBLE?"
"Way to hog all of them! I bet you think you're SO special now!"
"What? That's amazing? But- Wow!"
It was all such confusion, I bet I shouldn't have been surprised when a white beam began to glow beneath my feet, as I fell into the bright white hole that sucked me up like your mom's ass.
