There was a knock at my door. "Sweetheart? I have your shirt." I jump up and run to the door.

"Oh my goodness! Thank you!" I give her a hug as she laughs. "I'm thinking I might tell them tonight, I've met everyone so I think I'll do it tonight." She nods her head.

"Well go get changed sweetie, I made a matching shirt for me and Matt, you'll see it tonight." I smile at her.

"That's great the more the merrier!" She smiled and walked out. I changed into my shirt, and a pair of skin tight jean shorts. I fixed the crimp in my hair, and fixed my make-up. I looked almost unrecognizable.

I smile at my reflection and put on a jacket.

"Emily will you call the boys down to the living and maybe show me where the living room is at?" She laughed.

"Of course sweetheart." She walked over to the intercom.

"BOYS! PLEASE COME TO THE LIVING ROOM! EMILY WOULD LIKE TO TELL EVERYONE SOMETHING AT THE SAME TIME. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!" I soon heard footsteps from upstairs and looked to see Emily and Matt both wearing jackets.

"When I un-zip my jacket so do you ok?" They both nodded and showed me the way to the living room, taking a seat next to me. All the boys were there except Emmett.

"Where's Emmett?" I whispered to Emily.

"Bed." She told me. I took a deep breath and nodded. Emily took my hand and squeezed it, nodding at me.

I took a deep breath. "Ok. So I thought you guys deserved to know why I was living in you're house." I took a deep breath and looked to Emily and Matt who  both nodded their heads. I nodded mine and we un-zipped our jackets. We set them aside and I looked at Emily and Matt's shirts and tears came to my eyes. I looked across the living into the eyes of Dylan, who had tears at the brim of his eyes.

My Daddy's in the Army.

On a camouflage tank top the words were printed in black. The most beautiful and heart touching words ever.

I looked at Emily and Matt's shirts and let a tear escape.

My Best Friend is in the Army.

No one spoke.

Everyone was speechless.

Their mouths were hanging open, eyes wet.

Dylan opened his mouth to speak but no words came out.

"Uh-uhh-wow Phoenix. We-we didn't know." I nodded my head. "We're-we're sorry." I nodded again, trying not to cry.

"Do you know for how long?" Dylan asked. I nodded my head.

"Right now it's a year, but he'll get called back and they can either accept or decline the offer and I know my daddy and he'll accept the offer in a heartbeat." I whisper, smiling. "That's just the kind of person he is."

"Wow. So when do you get to talk to him?" Nico asked, getting into this. I shrugged my shoulders.

"From what I've researched on the Internet, I won't hear from him till maybe next week, because it's Friday. So we get to write each other, but it takes 13 days for my letter to get there and his to get to me, so I will only get to talk to him once a month almost. Unless he calls." I say, finally looking up.

They all nod. "And you can't write him until he writes you?" I nod my head.

"He's in an undisclosed area so I have to wait." They all nod again, trying to take it all in.

"So why aren't you living with your mom?" Curtis asks, confused. My heart stops.

When it comes to my daddy, I can answer your questions. I might tear up and cry a little, but I can still stay pretty composed and answer the questions. But when it comes to my momma, thats a different story. My mom died about three years ago. She was battling breast cancer, but she lost the battle. My momma and daddy were my best friends. We did everything together, I told them everything and they never kept secrets from me. My whole life, I watched my momma fight cancer. She just had enough energy to have me. After she had me, it was hospital rooms, hospital visits, doctors appointments day in and day out. When I turned 11 and 12, that's when the battle started getting harder. She started getting weaker. Started getting skinnier. Started loosing her gorgeous brown hair. She started to get pale and so weak she couldn't even feed her self. We ended up having to take her to the hospital as her home instead of staying at home. Then one day, the doctor came up to me and my daddy and told us that we should take her home and spend the next couple days with her at the most the next week, because it was going to be her last. My birthday is the worst day of the year. Can you guess why? She died that night. We had my birthday that day but at night, I went in to say goodnight and thank you to her and I found her...dead.

"She-she died three years ago..." I whisper, a tear escaping. I hate my birthday. Despise it actually. My daddy tries to show happy but I know he's broken inside. And I hate to see him like that. My daddy told me that my birthday was one of the best and worst days of his life. My daddy asked my momma to marry him on my birthday when they were younger before I was born. So when they found out I was going to be born near their anniversary, she held it out till that day. So three things happened on my birthday.

My birth.

My parents anniversary.

And my momma's death.

My daddy told me that he was going into the Army to honor momma. But I love my daddy, so I respected his wishes. No matter much it killed me inside, I knew this was what he wanted.

"Oh." Curtis said, horror crossing his face, as he wished he didn't ask the question. I decide that I'm done and can't answer anymore questions and run out of the room, trying to remember where my room was.

Just as I was about to get frustrated and break down and cry, a pair of arms wrap tightly around me from the back. Keeping me from escaping the world.

"Ignore Curtis. He didn't come with a filter, we thought about taking him back to the store to get fixed but never got around to it." The voice said. I let out a laugh as I cried, wiping away the tears.

"If you ever need anyone to talk too, don't forget about your best friend." I smiled. Only Dylan. I turned in his arms and wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Thank you Dylan." I whisper.

"Of course, anytime."
