Chapter 33

It's been 2 1/2 months. And things couldn't be better! Girls don't threaten me anymore, and guys still flirt, but they just do that to get in Nico's head. My dad has called twice.... I told him that I was dating Nico, and he was a bit disappointed at first because he wanted me and Jesse to date, but then I told him what was going on.

"Daddy, me and Nico are dating..." It was silent, even for where he was.

"What-what about Jesse?" I sighed.

"Me and Jesse decided that we cared for each other too much to go through a long distance relationship, we were going to do it when you came back and I was with you for a while, but now I don't know about that daddy..." He sighed.

"And why's that baby?" I smiled, pulling Tort close to me.

"Because daddy, he's Nico. He treats me like a princess, he cares about me, he makes sure I have what I need, he puts me above him, and he protects me, he calls me cute names and he tells me goodnight, he plays with my hair and holds my hand when I talk to you. He gave me my first kiss daddy. He tells me cute little things, he tickles my back like the girls back home did. He takes me on cute dates, he watches out for me at school and yells at the people who are mean to me. He loves me daddy." I whispered in the end. I listen to the phone and hear him sigh, I can almost see him running a hand over his face.

"He loves you?" He asks quietly. I nod my head.

"Yeah daddy, he made a big deal about it and told me." He was silent for a while.

"Do you love him?" He asked softly. I thought for a while.

"I think so daddy."

"Have you told him yet?"

"Not yet, I don't want to ruin our relationship like last time." I could almost see him nodding.

"You should hunny, see what happens. Who knows? He could be the one..." He said quietly. I nodded.

"I know daddy. I just don't want to ruin this. Its so perfect daddy."

"I know hun. I need to tell you something." My heart started to pick up and I ran out of my room and found Nico in his, texting. He looked at me and knew I needed his hand to hold.

"Baby?" My dad asked on the other end. I took hold of Nico's hand and listened for my dad.

"I'm here, what is it?" I asked quietly. He waited a little bit.

"We had to go to Hawaii, that's why we were passing through, but now we're coming back through and they're letting us stay for 3 days," I held my breath. "I've just talked to Emily and she says that I can stay with them so that we don't have to go back to an empty home." I felt the tears rolling. "Would you like it if I came to be with you for 3 days Phoenix?" I nodded.

"Of course daddy!" I cried. He chuckled.

"Good. Cause I need to meet this boy!" My hand tightened around Nico's. "I would love for you to meet him daddy. The last time you saw him was when we were real little. He turned out good." I smiled, looking up at Nico, he rolled his eyes at me and quietly kissed my cheek.

"Good then I can see these other boys." I rolled my eyes. There was silence on the other end and then my dad came back on.

"Phoenix I gotta go, I love you baby! Be good."

"I love you daddy. I'll see you soon." The line went dead and I turned to Nico, smiling.

"My daddies coming for 3 days!" I squealed, throwing my arms around Nico's neck as he chuckled.

Well sometime this week or next week, my daddy should be here. I was getting dressed and decided with my My Daddy's In The Army tank top and had one some tan shorts to match the tan in the camo. I curled my hair and pulled my hair back with a green bow. I pulled on my black Vans and grabbed my phone and back pack and stepped out of my room and walked to Nico's. I knocked once and walked in.

He was wearing cargos and was fixing his hair the way I like it and had no shirt on yet. He glanced at me through his mirror and smiled.

"Hi gorgeous." I smiled and set my stuff on his bed and walked over to him, wrapping my arms around his waist and laying my head on his back while he finished his hair.

"Hi bug." I whispered into his back. He turned in my arms and wrapped his around me.

"You ok?" He asked into my neck. I nodded.

"Just miss my dad." He lifted my chin and smiled.

"Well he should be here any day now." I smiled and kissed him gently.

"Good, then he'll get to meet you." He smiled and walked away from me and grabbed his tank top off the dresser and pulled it on while I admired his abs.

My Girlfriend's Daddy is in the Army

I smiled at my boyfriend and pulled him towards down stairs after grabbing our stuff. We found Emily in the kitchen, when she saw us she smiled.

"You guys look adorable!" She gushed. I smiled.

"Could you take a picture of us please?" I asked, holding out my phone. She nodded and stepped back, holding the phone up for pictures. I looked at Nico and fixed his hair and shirt then looked up at him and smiled, my arm wrapped around his back, he smiled at me and reached over and fixed my hair. I rolled my eyes and turned to Emily.

"Smile." I told Nico, smiling my self. Emily pressed the screen and took two pictures. I thanked her and took my phone back, looking at the pictures. There was one with me fixing his hair and one with us smiling at each other and one with Nico fixing my hair and then the two of us two smiling. I loved them. We didn't take pictures a lot, even though I would love to. We only have pictures of us dressed up if we were going somewhere or if we were matching, which was only two times, including these. We didn't even have one of us kissing! I wanted one so bad! Every girl at school with a boyfriend had one. Even Rio and Dylan had one! I needed Rio to get one of us.

"Lets go meet with Rio and D." Nico said to me as he led me towards the door.



"Rio." I said into Rio's ear as we made it to my locker.

"Yeah?" She asked just as quietly.

"I need you to get cute pictures of me and Nico. We have none, unless we're dressed up or matching." She smiled a wicked smile and winked.

"Leave it to me!" She saluted me and turned back to her boyfriend. I rolled my eyes and turned to my matching one. He pushed my back against the locker and wrapped his arms around my waist while I did the same. I heard a camera shutter and smiled.

Rio.

"We look cute." Nico whispered. I smiled.

"You're welcome." He rolled his eyes and smiled my favorite smile.

"Thanks." He mumbled and leaned in and kissed my lips, long and gentle.

Shutter.

I smiled against his lips and kissed him back.

"Nico." I pulled away and looked at him. "I need to tell you something." I said, seeing Dylan and Rio watching us out of the corner of my eye.

"Yes?" He said slowly. I took a deep breath and stood on my toes and whispered in his ear.

"I love you." I pulled away after hearing a camera shutter.

I looked up at him and saw his eyes had gone wide and his mouth dropped open.

Shutter.

"You-You do?" He asked, stunned. I smiled.

"I do." He smiled and threw his head back.

"YES!" he yelled as I laughed and hid in his chest.

"Got them." I heard Rio say in my ear as she danced away towards first period.

"I'll see you in assembly today ok?" I nodded. Today we had some unknown assembly. Everyone was required to go.

"Ok." He kissed me and walked towards his first period. Me and Rio joined the Girls Soccer Team and today we were told to be on the floor, not in the bleachers. Us, the cheerleaders and the Boys Soccer Team have to be on the floor. I have no clue what's going on, maybe awards or something?

I walked into first period and sat next to Rio. She smiled wickedly at her phone. She showed me all the pictures and they were perfect.

"I love them!" I cooed as she sent me them. I saved them and set the one of me telling him I love him as my lock screen. His face was priceless. I set the one of us kissing as my home screen.

"Lets go!" The teacher announced after the Anthem was recited. We made our way to the gym and Rio and I separated our selves from the group and stood with the rest of the girls and boys soccer team. Jayden and Kayden were on the team too, so we stood with them. I searched the crowd and found Nico sitting with other football players, laughing and talking. He looked over and saw me looking and smiled at me, I smiled back and turned away just as the gym doors shut, signaling it was time to start. I stood next to Kayden and Rio and turned towards the Principal, giving her my attention.

"Good Morning Students!" She called through the microphone a little too loudly. "I hope everyone enjoyed there weekend, today we have a surprise for a couple of our students here." She paused and smiled. "But that will have to wait. Today I have the Soccer Teams down here and the Cheerleaders because there are at least one or two people on each team who is part of this surprise. I think you will all enjoy this very much." Ms. Kay stepped aside and a man dress in a tux stepped foreword.

"Hello students!" He said to everyone. Everyone grumbled in response. "Today is a very important day for some of these students, even if they don't know it." He looked over at us and winked.

"Some of these students are missing someone or might have lost someone and not even have known it," He trailed off letting it sink it. My heart started to race, something was up. I reached over and grabbed Kayden's hand, tightly. He looked down at me and saw my scared expression and interlocked our fingers, giving me support.

"If everyone could please remove their hats," He waited for the guys to remove their SnapBacks and some, their beanies. "I would like to call," He looked down at a list. "I'm sorry in advance if I pronounce your name wrong."

"Could I please have Marissa Petty, and Katherine Trail." Two cheerleaders stepped foreword slowly. "Could I please have Brian Maybeck and Zach Cennello," Two boys from the soccer team stepped foreword. "And could I please have, Phoenix Mann and Miley Cennello." Me and Miley, Zach's sister, stepped foreword with the others. Miley stood by her brother and held his hand. My heart started racing.

What was going on?

"For those of you who don't know, each of these teenagers has a parent overseas, serving the country for all of you." Tears started to fill my eyes and I felt Miley's hand wrap around mine.

Miley and Zach haven't heard from their dad and mom in 4 months.

"Today we have a camera crew here to capture a video of these students saying how much they miss their parents," The dressed up man came to stand in front of us and looked at each of us. "Because they got call that they won't be coming to see you this week or next." My heart stopped.

"What?" Me and the two cheerleaders and Brian said at the same time.

"I am sorry. But the camera crew id here to capture what you have to say to them." He gestured towards a door and a man with a big camera walked in and stood behind us.

The dressed up man looked at his list. "Phoenix? Step foreword." I did as I was told and look up into the bleachers and saw that Nico wasn't happy about the news either. I had tears in my eyes as the camera started rolling. The man nodded to me and I started.

"Hi daddy. I miss you," The dressed up man turned me around and made me face away from the camera and on the other end of the gym, was my daddy.
