"I love you flower." I whispered as I left a kiss on her forehead and went to find Hayley.
"Hayley." I cried out as I stepped into the next room.
"Oh my! Phoenix!" She cried, throwing her arms open for me to come in to. Everyone left the room and left us alone. I hugged tightly. So tight, I was afraid I was going to snap something in her. I let go and sat in a chair next to her bed.
"What happened?" Her face turned to terror as she thought back to last night.
"Oh Phoenix it was horrid!" She lay her head against her pillow and stared at the ceiling while I stared at her. "After we left your house we stayed at a hotel that night. While we were there, Austin and me went midnight swimming. He kissed me, and asked me to be his girlfriend." She smiled faintly. "We left very early the next morning. Like 4 am. It was almost 11pm when Daisy and I were finally getting tired and I could tell that Austin was too." She took a deep breath as a tear rolled down her cheek.
"Daisy had asked him to pull over so that we could stop and eat and sleep. Austin said no cause we were only about 3 hours from home. I squeezed his hand and asked him quietly if he would pull over and he looked at me and said not yet. We kept going then Daisy finally got fed up and asked him again. He told her no very calmly and then she yelled at him and he turned and yelled back. All I could see were two bright lights and I screamed. Austin kept saying why the hell are you screaming? Then turned and saw it was a huge semi coming head on and he couldn't see our car cause Austin forgot to turn the lights on. We were in the center of Rocky Bridge. Austin yelled I love you. Then we were hit. All I can remember is the force of the impact! I can't even describe it to you Phoenix! It was so bad! I felt as if five whales going 95 had hit us at the same exact time. The next thing I know, is we're flying. Literally. Our car and the semi had gone through the railing. All I see is Daisy fly threw the front window and bounce off the semi. If the semi hadn't gone off the railing too, Daisy would be in a better condition and Austin would be awake. When the semi hit Daisy, we had landed on a rock upside down. Austin had somehow gotten in front of me before we flew off the railing. But as soon as it was over it started again. The semi had hit us from behind and we crashed into so many rocks Phoenix! It was the most terrifying thing ever! We ended up near Rocky River, which is about a 40 feet from the bridge itself. I started screaming Austin's name and he answered me once. He told me he loved me. He told me to tell Daisy and Jesse he loved them dearly, but Phoenix he said to tell you he loved you so much and not to give up. He used his last little breath, before he went unconscious to tell you that. I know he loves you more than me." I shook my head.
"We're not talking about that. Now what about the semi truck driver?" She let out a very angry breath and her face turned red with anger.
"He's alive and nothing more than a scrap on his cheek. Lucky bastard. And guess what?! He didn't bother to come and check to see if we were dead or even to check to see if Daisy was ok. HE GOT OUT OF HIS CAR AND RAN! HE FLIPPIN' RAN!" My face dropped.
"Are you serious?" She nodded. I stood and kissed her forehead.
"Where are you going?" I stormed out of the room.
"To the semi."
I walked across the bridge and instantly saw where they had gone through the rail. Right side of the bridge, coming into town. They broke it fully, like its hanging over the edge, split in two. I walked over to the split metal and looked down and saw the grass hill with the grass ripped out of the top, where the car and semi first took off. I walked out and followed that until the saw the rocks that they were talking about. There was the very first rock, the one that they bounced off of in order to get upside down. It had a long deep, scratch threw the whole rock. I looked up and saw the semi truck. The rear end, the holder, was twisted into a V shape and looked as if a giant had picked it up and thrown it off to the far side. It was like that fell off first that's why the truck part kept going. I walked forward then stepped upon the rock that Austin's car had landed on upside down. All I saw where gashes everywhere. Then right below the rock, in a valley, was the car of the semi. I stepped down and into the valley. I stormed towards the truck and took it all in. The front, where the engine was, was crushed straight up into the air. The front door was open so I stepped inside and instantly found what I was searching for.
