I stood on the cool tile, staring out at the gigantic doors along with everyone else.
I've waited for this day for months on end.
And now it's finally becoming a reality.
My daddy was coming home for a few weeks.
My hero.
I held onto my baby boy as Nico stood somewhere close by, holding my baby girl.
Liam was wearing a onesy that said 'My Grandpa wears combat boots.' and the picture was of war boots. Sophia was wearing a onesy that said 'My Grandpa fought for your freedom.' and had a picture of the silhouette of an army guy and the words ARMY vertically down the front.
Nico and I were each wearing our shirts as well.
A bell sounded and the doors opened wide. I started to shake as I turned and looked for Nico. I handed him Liam after I had found him and turned to see plenty of men and women proudly walking through the long grey hall. All dressed in army clothes.
I searched the crowd frantically, trying to find my hero.
My dad.
I kept searching, seeing men and women, children and even pets hugging their loved ones.
And then my eyes caught onto something.
My dads face.
I began to cry as I took off running towards his limping figure and landed in this strong arms.
As soon as his strong arms wrapped around me, I started to cry.
"I'm so sorry!" I cried into his shoulder.
He held onto me tightly, shaking his head. "Don't be! Even though you made the wrong decisions at the wrong time, I'm still proud of you and I love you very much! I don't know how you did this on your own baby?" I cried as he told me how proud he was.
"I had lots of help daddy!" I cried, wiping my nose and eyes.
"Obviously." He joked, kissing the top of my head. "I missed your beautiful face my love." He cooed, picking up his things and following me to the other families.
"Do you want to meet some people?" I asked him, pointing over my shoulder.
He smiled, nodding his head.
"Yes ma'am." I lead to where Nico was and took Liam from him.
I turned around slowly and smiled up at my dad.
"Daddy? This is Liam." I told him quietly, setting Liam into my dad's shaking arms.
He stared down at his precious grandson, examining every feature on his face.
"He's beautiful!" He whispered, kissing his forehead.
"Wait till you meet your granddaughter." I said with a smile.
He looked up at me and smiled, eyes wide.
"Lemme meet her!" He demanded, gently giving me Liam.
I traded Liam for Sophia and turned slowly, building the suspense. "Daddy? This is Sophia." I introduced as he cried heavily, clutching Sophia to his chest.
"She looks just like you and your mom." I cried with him as we stared down at my twin.
"Daddy, I want you to say hello to someone."
I turned and face Nico, giving his hand a squeeze as we turned to my dad.
Nico was worried that my dad would hate him for impregnating his daughter.
"Daddy this is Nico. Nico this is my daddy." I introduced them.
My dad stared long and hard at Nico, scoping him out to see if he were a threat or not.
Daddy handed me my little girl as he slowly and sternly walked up to Nico.
"It's finally nice to put a face with the glorious name!" My dad's voice boomed. "Put her there!" He yelled, sticking out his hand for Nico to shake.
Nico stared at the hand and my dad's face, shocked, but shook his hand non the less, enjoying a manly hug after that.
"It's nice to see you again son." My dad smiled, patting Nico on the back.
"Told you!" I sang, cradling my baby.
"Shut it." Nico snapped, sticking his tongue out at me.
After a while, we all piled into the car and made our way home.
The babies are a month and two weeks old.
