"Would you please care to explain." I took a deep breath.
"That's part of the reason why we're leaving. Because the boy is back in town. I need to get away for a while, to make sure he doesn't find me." I say softly. Cody turns in his seat, pulling his headphones out of his ears.
"I'm not gonna push the topic because I know you don't want to talk about it. But I would like to talk about..." he trailed off, not even needing to finish. I rolled my eyes.
"What about it! We had sex. Done." I throw my hands up.
"No, not done. You said you were waiting for marriage, what happened?" he reprimanded me.
"I love him." I turned and faced forward, crossing my arms across my chest. "That's what happened."
"Gotcha." Cody mumbled, knowing I was done and didn't want to talk about my love life.
"PHOENIX!" I heard my name being screamed from across the airport. I looked to Cody, who smirked and pointed his head in the direction of the screams. I turned and saw Haley and Aly running towards me, Jesse and Austin standing in same spot with their hands in their pockets, looking innocent, grinning.
"AHH!" I yelled, dropping my things and running at them. We jumped into each others arms, hugging each other tightly. We let each other go and I walked over to my boys, Cody picking up my thrown things.
"Gentlemen. You're looking well." I sniffed stiffly, acting all formal like, trying to stay as serious as possible. At the end I watched as Jesse couldn't hold it anymore and broke, laughing his head off. We laughed with him as Austin pulled me in for a much needed hug. I grabbed to him tightly, needing this, needing them.
He let me go, leaving me to face Jes. I turned to him and saw him grinning, looking down at his shoes then letting his eyes trail up my body to my eyes, causing my whole body to erupt in tingles. He finally smirked and walked towards me, pulling me into "our" hug. Only we hug this way, he doesn't hug anyone else like this and I don't know anyone who hugs like this. I can't even describe it to you.
"I missed you." he mumbled into the crook of my neck.
"Mm." I mumbled, not wanting to leave his embrace. Finally someone coughed, causing us to separate, with Aly's hand being pressed up against my shirt.
"Have you gained weight Phoenix?" she asks, horrified. I look down at my stomach and do see just a slight difference.
"Not that I know of.." I say slowly, looking at Cody with a weird look. He shrugs, handing me my things.
"Alright, let's get out of here." I say, heading towards the door, Jesse right next to me.
"We're sorry, we only have one extra room, so either you sleep on the couch or..." I shook my head.
"Me and Cody are fine. Thank you guys." I gave Austin a hug as him and Haley walked to his room. I turned and started fixing up the bed for Cody and I.
"You don't mind do you?" I asked, making sure it was indeed ok. He shrugged.
"I'm fine with it. I just don't know how your boyfriend will take it." I rolled my eyes.
"He doesn't need to know. Plus you're 14, that's not really a problem." he smirked and threw off his shirt, leaving just his basketball shorts. I stared at his muscles in awe for a moment, until I remembered who I left back home.
I went into the bathroom and did my business, changing into shorts and a tshirt, then deciding I need some water before I go to sleep. I step out of the room and walk down the very familiar hallway. On my back from the kitchen I stop in Jesse's room to say goodnight.
"Goodnight Jes." I whispered, opening the door.
"Goodnight baby girl." he mumbled from somewhere in the room. I stepped inside to give him a hug and saw him sitting at his window. He looked over and knew what I needed.
"Need a hug?" he asked. I nodded. He grinned and opened his arms, walking over to me, enveloping me in his arms. Safe.
But not as safe.
I looked up to say goodnight and saw him leaning in. And then I noticed my self leaning in as well.
NO!
I screamed at my self and pushed away from him, watching his confused expression.
"I have a boyfriend Jesse, whom I love very much." I said, stepping out of his room and back to mine.
"What do you waaaaaant." Cody mumbled, turning away from me in the bed. I giggled, continuing to poke his stomach to wake him.
"Wake up Mr. Grumpy Gills! We have things to do today!" I sang, laying across his body, smiling at his face as he pushes my face away from him but failing to move me.
"You have things to do today my gorgeous friend." I blushed but kept attempting wake him up.
"Nope! We're going to see my friends today." I cheered. "To get some answers Cody." I said softer. He opened his eyes slowly and looked at me, frowning.
We lay there staring at each other for a while.
"Cody? Did you love her?" He shrugged, turning onto his back, effectively pulling me with him.
"I don't know. What is love anyway? No one knows! So how does one really know when they love someone?" I frowned.
"Love is when you'd do anything and everything for that person. When you can't stand to not be around them. When they're your other half, what makes you whole. When you get butterflies every time someone talks about them or says their name or when they look at you and fireworks erupt through your body. You love them." I say, and then realize that I'm describing mine and Nico's relationship. I smile as Cody thinks.
"What? Why are you smiling?" He asks me. I shrug.
"Nothing. I just described me and Nico." He grinned, thinking.
"I guess I was falling for her then." He said sadly. I smiled and leaned over getting close to his ear.
"She was too." I whispered.
"Really?" He asked, sitting up.
"Yeah. I could tell when she was saying goodbye, she didn't want to leave." I say softly. He frowned.
"I wish she hadn't. Then maybe she'd be here in my arms instead of you, protecting me from breaking." I frowned, knowing he was hurting. But he had to know that I was hurting much more. Daisy was like my sister. My other half.
"I know Cody. I know." I said softly, getting up to get dressed for the day, Cody following suit.
"I'm sorry Phoenix. I'm being selfish, I know you're hurting more than I am, I just miss her and don't know how to handle it, I've never lost someone close to me." I turn and wrap my arms around his waist, looking up at him.
"It's ok. Like you said, you don't know how to handle it. But that's why I'm here. I have lost people close to me so I know how to handle it pretty much. But let's not worry about that now, let's go meet some friends." I said with a smile. He nodded and hugged me one last time before going to get ready.
"PHOENIX!" I heard my name being yelled from the oh-so familiar park. I turned and looked for the voice and saw them.
My family.
A giant smile made it's way across my face as I took off running towards my friends. I made it to Ben first who had sarcastically ran for me, our bodies slamming together as we hugged. I laughed in his ear as he laughed in mine, the sound being music to my ears, oh how I missed him.
I pulled away and ran for my girls. Patricia and Maddie made it to me and pulled me in a group hug, Di coming over to join us. I pulled away from my friends, walking towards the guys. I smiled and pulled Zach into a tight hug.
"I missed you so much!" I mumbled into his shoulder, he laughed.
"I missed you too. I'm sorry I couldn't come down, they wouldn't let me, believe me, I would've been here." I pulled my head away and looked up at him.
"It's ok. I understand." he grabbed my stomach, not my waist, and looked into my eyes.
"Anything?" I shook my head. "He just left cause they came for a visit." he nodded and stepped away from me as I felt Cody's hand on my shoulder. I smiled and hugged Dalton and Garrett and then Hannah and Rachel. I pulled away and looked at all my friends.
"I missed you guys so much." I cooed. Then I spotted them.
Cody and Tristan.
And Jose!
I pushed my friends out of the way and took off running towards my other friends. Jose saw me running and stopped, opening his arms and waiting for my arrival. I jumped and landed in his arms, clutching to his neck. He chuckled in my ear and I heard his voice drop.
"Jose, I missed you sosososo much!" he laughed in my ear.
"I missed you more." I pulled away and looked at his face.
"When did you get back?" I asked him as he smiled.
"A couple days ago and then Cody and Tristan were invited to see you so they brought me along." I smiled.
"While I'm glad you came, I missed you." he smiled as we pulled away and I hugged Cody and Tristan. We walked back over to my friends, sitting in a circle in the grass.
"So Phoenix," Hannah nudged me, winking. I blushed, knowing what she was going to say.
"What?" I whined, grinning. Everyone smiled, knowing something I didn't. I looked at each friend, but took notice of my Cody and Patricia looking at each other.
"We've seen the pictures on Instagram and Facebook! Spill!" I laughed and looked at my Cody, who rolled his eyes. I bit my lip and looked down at my lap, playing with my bracelets.
"Well Nico asked me out the day after I left here, while we were on the airplane. I guess you could say we talked about it before, so when we got on the plane I was thinking about it and all I said was yes and he was like yes? And I was like yes and he fist pumped the air and yelled finally." I smiled, remembering every detail. Everyone awwned.
"And things haven't been ruined yet?" Ben asked, knowing my past relationships haven't worked out because I ruin them. I shook my head.
"He helps a lot. He knows how much I --" I paused debating on saying the word. "He knows how much I love him and won't let me. He's my rock, my everything. He won't let me ruin things. When he asked me out for real, I actually said no. I said that I want to say yes so bad but that I couldn't because I didn't want to ruin what we had already, and he said he wouldn't let me." everyone awed again as I mentioned love.
"You love him?!" they all cooed.
