"You can't expect me to not retrieve his file myself if you won't tell me anything about him!" you demanded, snatching the file from Bruce's hand.
"There is a reason," Bruce clenched his jaw and grabbed the file back. "We don't tell you certain things!"
"Just because I'm new here?!"
"You being the newest Avenger has nothing to do with it. It's just that... you just cannot find out about a few...things"
"You keeping his file off my limits makes me wanna grab them from your big green fists even more," You growled and reached out to retrieve the manila folder, but Bruce pulled his arm back.
He was silent for a minute.
Or two.
It was a really long silnce.
"Sorry," you mumbled. "No one has told me anything all of you guys know ever since I got here. It's like I can't be trusted. I just want to do my job. And do it right."
Bruce exhales and shakes his head, setting the file down on the lab table.
After another silence, you turn around to leave. Maybe it would take time to gain trust. You understood that.
"(Y/n)."
You stop and look to your side, not wanting to meet his eyes.
"You know there are reasons we can't tell you certain things."
"And you can't even tell me those reasons."
"The information is too sensitive."
"Things. I get it."
Bruce sighed, and you knew it was one of frusteration. At first, you wanted to crack the truth right out of the doctor. But now, you understood the value of time and were learning to respect it.
You started walking again, but when Bruce called your name once more, you turned around.
He beckoned you to come closer, and you were right back to where you were when you had first started this conversation.
Bruce lowered his voice and pushed his glasses up his nose.
"You didn't hear this from me but," he breathed out and pushed the Red Skull file towards you.
