"Ow, not so hard!"

"I just set it down, Y/n."

"No, you're pressing on it!"

"I'm not!"

"You are!"

"Just sit still–"

"OW!"

Bruce exasperatedly removed his hands from the ice pack on your ankle and gave you the most exasperated look he could manage. "You have not grown a bit since second grade, have you?"

You furrowed your eyebrows and crossed your arms firmly in response. "If it hurts, I'm gonna let you know it!" You moved the ice pack from your ankle to inspect it, lightly grazing your fingers over a defined, swollen lump that seem to pulse with hot pain.

Bruce just sighed and shook his head, removing his glasses and placing them beside him on the training mat. He looked up to Steve for some sort of resolve, but all Steve could do was chuckle lightly, as if saying 'what did you expect?'.

Bruce simply shook his head. How did this even happen?" He questioned as he placed the ice pack back on, earning a hiss from you. "One minute I'm drinking coffee, the next Tony is yelling about you two yelling! I run in and Y/n is down on the mat screaming, and you look like your first child was being delivered!"

"It's not important," You grumbled. "Shit happens, you kn–"

"Y/n was practicing her aerial kicks, and she landed on the side of her foot, rather than on the pads. Her own weight and the unstable landing caused her ankle to give out." Steve spilled purposefully, with a worried frown.

"Steve!" You cried, letting your torso fall back down of the mat so you were lying down again. "It's not your job to embarrass me!"

"You have to tell the doctor the truth! Always!"

Exhaustion from the practice and the energy exerted over managing the pain finally began to weigh down on your head. You rubbed your eyes in annoyance, looking up to Steve, who smiled sympathetically down at you.

"If it's any help, you were pretty close. I have no doubt that next time will be the time you nail it."

"I'm afraid next time won't be for a while... " Bruce spoke as he put his glasses back on. "Y/n, we may be looking at a very serious sprain, possibly even a break." Bruce stated. "We need to get you to the infirmary to take X-Rays to be sure though."

"No!" You laughed incredulously. "No!" You shook your head as you swatted the ice pack off of your ankle. "Nuh-uh."

"Hey!" Bruce cried, almost offendedly at your mishandling of his equipment. "You need to rest Y/n! Aggravating the injury will only make it worse."
