Ok, just a few things to mention/discuss because I saw your comments from the last few chapter and was like, I want to be a part of this!
1- Ship name
The general concensus is that we don't like Saniel because it sounds like a dog name. I agree. I'm not a fan. Dophie was the other option, but like I said in previous comments, I don't like this one either because it sounds like Dopey.
How about Danphie? I'm not fully behind this one either but at least it doesn't sound like one of the Seven Dwarfs.
2- To Sail or Not to Sail
Ok, Daniel and Sophie- Will they, won't they?
I can tell you now that I am completely undecided about whether or not they should get together. I write each day on the day because it's in real time and I want to incorporate real world stuff into it, ie. World events and news (it'll mainly be British news unless it's MAJOR).
3. Modern dating!
I saw the conversation about people meeting through a phone call and such, and in today's society it's actually possible to meet your partner this way. At first, I was like, 'Oh, it's not that different to using Tinder.' But then, the more I thought of it, the more I started to think about how modern dating goes. Here are a few examples:
TV shows
The Bachelor
The Bachelorette
Blind Date (old UK TV show, so 90s- now finished)
Take Me Out (the baby brother of Blind Date)
Joe Millionaire
First Dates (again, UK)
The Undatables
Millionaire Matchmaker
Married At First Sight
(And probably a load more world over that I can't think of/don't know about)Apps
Tinder
Grindr
OkCupid
Hinge
PlentyofFish
(There's also text-door neighbour going on, where you text someone with the same number as you, but the last digit is one more, or one less than your last digit)On-line Dating
Match.com
eHarmony
Lovestruck
Tastebuds
(Plus millions more!)Hell, there's even a website for people to find someone to co-parent a child with!
All I'm saying is, modern dating is a minefield and there's no right or wrong way to meet anyone anymore.
4. General 'Hello' stuff
I haven't made this clear but I've alluded to the fact that it could happen, so let me go on record to say this- Sophie and Daniel WILL meet IN PERSON. We won't see it happening, but there'll be conversations about it, so we'll get to see that side of it.
They live in the same city, and as we'll find out too, they run in the same circle of society. There's a reason neither have told each other their real last name. That's all I have to say on that!
Also, before/if/when Daniel and Sophie get together (please note that I also said if there!) they will date/be in a relationship with other people before/if that happens.
366 days is a long time, but I feel with these two characters I can make it work. Why?
Births
Deaths
Marriages
New jobs
New partners
Major drama
Scandal
Family squabbles
I hate your girlfriend
I hate your boyfriend
A night spent in a jail cell (prison cell)
A hospital dash
One weekend of debauchery
Jesus (or Samuel, if you'd prefer)Oh, and a whole lot more besides!
Have I forgotten anything? Probably, but that doesn't matter right now. I'm off to finish writing tonight's update.
P.s. who do we like more?
Daniel
Or
SophieI know who my favourite is!
