Kind (but not really) true. Because, even though they still talk every day, it's not the same.

"Good evening. Or, rather, good afternoon."
"I'm in London."
"What?"
"I'm in London. So."
"When did you get back?"
"Today."
"Yeah, but... how?"
"I flew."
"No, I mean... what?"
"I had an evening flight last night and I arrived here at eight am this morning."
"But... you never said that you were coming home by today. I thought today you were flying."
"Yeah, you thought. You should have asked, not just assume things. If people assume things, they get it wrong."
"So, you're here? You're back?"
"For now, yes."
"Do you want to-"
"No."
"Not even to see Alfie?"
"Don't blackmail me, Daniel."
"Soph-"
"Don't call me that."
"Ok."
"..."
"So, what did you do today?"
"I went to the Vogue offices."
"How'd that go?"
"Fine. I'm not all that impressed by my temporary replacement."
"Why not?"
"Because they're useless."
"They can't be that bad?"
"Oh, they can be. And they are. I've recommended getting someone new."
"Like who?"
"I'm not sure. Probably Amber."
"Is she good?"
"No."
"But you'd still recommend her?"
"Best of a bad situation."
"Poor woman. What are you doing tomorrow?"
"It's my rest day. The marathon in Sunday, so I'm taking it easy tomorrow."
"Are you ready for the marathon?"
"It's not my first one, but even then, I'm never really prepared enough for them."
