Temptation

Dinner was served and eaten. Maine was eating a peach for dessert, I offered to wash the dishes but she gave me a loud, "tsk!" And shooed me away from the kitchen.

None to do, I went and took a quick shower and start randomly clicking my phones while waiting for her to come to bed with me.

Shit! That came out wrong in so many ways. But I couldnt help but smile about the thought.

"Ligo lang ako saglit bago matulog. Uy! Anong binablush mo dyan ha?" She said as she entered the room, and started to look suspiciously at me midsentence.

She has every right to be suspicious if she could only read my mind. And because Im a terrible liar, I blushed in guilt.

"Nothing!" I said I pretended to look at photos at my phone.

"Maganda sya!" She said after taking a peak on my phone.

I didnt realize I was scanning on different pictures of Jaz I saved over the years Ive known her.

"Si Jaz." I replied to her unvoiced question.

"Kaya pala mahal na mahal mo sya." She looked at me and hated the pity in her eyes. "Sya! Maliligo na ako."

"Wait! Wala ka bang napansin?"

She gave me a curious look.

"Tingnan mo mabuti pictures nya, please?" She took my phone and examine the photo on my screen.

"Maganda sya."

"Wala ng iba?"

"Ano pa ba?"

"Never mind."

"Weird mo." And just like that she went straight to the bathroom.

I placed my phone on the night stand still curious why nobody thinks Maine look exactly like Jaz. They have the same eyes fanned by their long lashes, the same luscious naturally red lips, and cute turn up nose.

Im starting to doubt my own sanity and just stared at the ceiling until she came out of the bathroom looking clean and soft and sleepy.

"Maaga tayo bukas ha? Imemeet pa natin yung friend mong si Sam. Tapos gusto ko magpunta muna sa Kings Cross. Nandun yung platform 3/4 eh. Magpapapicture pa tayo dun. Tapos basta! Madami pa tayong pupuntahan. Kaya i-charge mo yung phone mo baka malowbat ako, sayang kung hindi tayo makakakuha ng madaming pictures."

With that, like an obedient boy, I stood up and looked for my charger. She was laying down looking at me with one pillow in between her legs when I return in the bed. I didnt know why but I wished Im her pillow right now. Oy! Tama na!

"Alden, I had fun today. Thank you ha?"

"Hanggang kelan ka ba magtha-thank you?" I had to smile at her, Im so close to dozing off myself.

"Hanggang hanggang... Kasi totoo naman. I owe you a lot."

"Yaan mo, eventually sisingilin din kita. Mag-ipon ka na kasi malaki-laki rin bayarin mo sa akin." I said with eyes closed.

I felt her pinch me on my side and I smiled.

"Good night, Maine,"

"Good night, Alden,"

"Oy, Alden! Ano ba kanina pa kita ginagising! Anong oras na. Super late na oh! Bumangon ka na dyan. Sayang ang araw, madami pa tayong pupuntahan!"

I could hear her voice and seriously I want to obey and wake up and all but my body cant. She said were already running late but it felt like I just closed my eyes.
