Screwed

We walked around the streets for awhile. Getting lost in the city, and then trying to find our way back.

"I cant believe that Im walking on the same pavement the fab four actually walked into back in the 60s. This is so surreal!" Gone is the girl who screamed at me for no particular reason. Shes back to being Maine again. And so long as shes in this mood, I will do my best to keep her this way. The meltdown in the streets was something I dont want to see ever again.

"Hindi ka pa ba nagugutom? I mean pork pie lang kinain natin. Gutom na ko. Its already 7pm, Maine. How about that fish and chips?"

"Tanong mo dun sa Julie kung saan yang best fish and chips in town." Her lips where shut tightly again.

"Alam ko na kung saan yun. Lets go. Gutom na talaga ako."

"Ang weird! Suka talaga sa prito breaded fish?" Maine looking at me shocked. "What? Pati sa french fries?"

"Masarap sya! At saka bago mo ko tawanan, look around you. Everybody's doing it."

She looked around and shook her beautiful head.

"Weird! Ketchup and mayonaise sa fries! Minsan sundae kung gusto mo ng intense. Pero suka????"

"Here, try it!" And I fork a piece of my fish soaked in vinegar and a few fries. She looked at me suspiciously. "Maine, when in Rome, do the what Romans do."

She finally took the food on my fork in to her mouth and started to chew.

"Interesting!"

"Vinegar?" I offered her the bottle.

"Nope. Okay naman lasa pero Ill stick to what I know. Baka mamya sumakit lang tyan ko dyan masira pa Liverpool experience ko."

"Suit yourself." And started munching on my food.

"Pagkatapos nito where else do you want to go?"

"I think Im done with the drinking beers for now. Lets just walk around. Unless pagod ka?"

"Gutom lang ako. Im game whatever you want." Besides I dreaded going back to the hotel knowing we might end up staying on different rooms. Id rather be with her as long as I could.

"Thats decided then."

Its dark by the time we went out of the fast food. Some of the stores around are starting to close up. We walked slowly this time, just enjoying the scenery. Maine held my hand while we were walking and I love her gesture.

Around 10pm, she said we should go back to the hotel. She looked tired but happy.

We were already infront of her room when she said, "Good night, Alden. Wag na tayo gumising ng maaga tomorrow. Gusto ko lang naman magpunta sa Albert Dock."

"Okay. Good night, Maine!"

She opened her door and went inside without me. As soon as she closed the door I felt alone. So instead of going to my room, I went downstairs and just went to the lobbys bar.

"Draft please." I told the bar tender.

"Hey, hows did your first day went?" Julie greeted me and sat on the next chair with me.

"Julie! I wasnt expecting you here?"

"I was hoping to see you actually." She said and placed her hand on my leg.

"You were looking for me?"

"Well, yeah. Why not? Unless the lady youre with mind?" She asked.
