So I went on my (fan) facebook page and I was looking through the posts concerning wattpad.com and I saw one post about cyber bullying. Apparently, a man made a video mocking a story that a fourteen year girl wrote. The story was a fan fiction about one direction.
I think it's SICK for any adult to mock a fourteen year old writer. It's one thing for another adult to criticize another adult. But, you don't mock a child when you are the adult. The fourteen year old child is probably just writing for fun and trying to connect with other fourteen year olds. We have to realize that cyber bullying has lead many teens to commit suicide. Words can be more harmful then we realize. As adults, we have responsibility to protect children.
Anyway, my facebook friend informed that wattpad.com is taking the videos down and the user was offered a warning. But, I think this a story that is important for everyone to hear. The point of wattpad.com is to give readers positive and negative feedback.
And if you absolutely hate a story, move on.
But, it's unacceptable to mock or humilate any other user. You think most "adults" would know better. :) Remember, offer users helpful advice that you think will improve their stories but be respectful of others.
