My random thoughts on The Fifty Shades Of Grey. This is not a book review :) I hope you enjoy! :D
****
Fifty Shades of Grey was originally self-published as an e-book and it was one of the first self-published books to make $10 million dollars. It was also the first self-published book to be #1 Best-New York times best selling list. Yes, that is right. An e-book out sold every traditonal published book that was made this year. I think eventually it was picked up a traditional publisher but you'll have to research that part on your own. lol
I find that fasnicating and it definitely gives hope to future self-published books. Fifty Shades of grey was posted online as twilight fan-fiction. Try not to barf after you read the words "Twilight fan-fiction."
If you've read all my posts, you know I'm not a fan of fan-fictions. I like original books and fan-fictions can almost be a form of plagerism. If you are "borrowing" plot lines then where do you draw the line? The Fifty Shades of Grey definitely stole several plot lines from Twilight. And if you hated Twilight, please steer clear of Fifty Shades of Grey. If you love Fifty Shades of Grey and you hated twilight, go thank Stephanie Myers. Fifty Shades of Gray wouldn't exist without twilight.
Plots Lines Copied From Twilight:
Anna steel has never even had a boyfriend and is your typical Mary Sue character. In fact, there is nothing compelling about Anna Steele. The entire novel involves around the dark, mysterious Christian Grey. The novel rushes into the story without developing Anna Steel's character. To be fair, Anna steel mentions a few of her ambitions but I thought Anna steel was more disturbing than Christian Grey. She was just a very flat, dull character and I didn't feel a connection with her character.
Questions that were never answered: What does Anna steele want out of life? And Why was innocent-Anna attracted to such a monester? Why Is Anna so self-destructive?

I bought the entire series because the book has been the 'talk' of the internet and I had to find out what was so compelling about Fifty Shades of Grey.
Dialogue: Fifty Shades of Grey takes places in America and there are a few American Steretypes. It was a huge mistake to have the novel take place in America. The language is slightly awkward because American English and British English are different. The Author tried to write in American English and it sounded awkward.
The inner dialogue killed me. Literally. Anna repeated "Christian is so beautiful" and "he's so hot" ten times on ONE PAGE!

Did I like it?
I was intruiged By Christian Grey's dark past. Christian Grey is the ultimate male character. And I don't think any girl would be able to resist him! I read the entire series in two days and I appreciated it for what it was.....
The Age Demographic:
Most readers were over the age of thirty. But honestly, this novel didn't read as a adult novel. Yeah, I get the sex scenes verge on being porn but Anna Steele was only twenty one. Though, Anna Steele could have easily passed for a seventeen-year-old school girl! When she was interviewing Christian Grey, Christian Grey made some sexual references. And she didn't even notice! And then When she asked Christian Grey if he was re-decorating his home.
He said no and he was buying making tape and rope. Hmm why would someon NEED masking tape and rope if they weren't doing a home project?
I find it odd that thirty-year-old woman would want to read about the sexual adventures of a twenty-one-year-old.
Anna Steele came of naive at best and it was slighly un-realistic at times.
Bible References: :D No, No, No, I don't think bible references should be used in this type of novel. I especially don't think they should be used in the middle of a sex scene. Did you really just quote the bible during sex? <----- What is wrong with you.
Erotic Novels: I downloaded the trilogy before I read the first book. I was reading the books more for marketing research and I wanted to see what the hype was all about.
Q: Is Fifty Shades a must read?
A: Okay, honestly 30% of wattpad books are better written and like I've said, some of the dialogue was lazy. And I'm sure the book could of have been better written with a editor . If you want to write a dark tale about a dominant man, then this is the book for you. If you want to read a story that evolves completely around sex, then you may love this book.
But some of the lines like, 'oh he reminder of hot fudge or something.' <------ Please, delete that. You wouldn't find silly lines like that in the rough drafts of my novels.
Q: Is Fifty Shades a Romance book?
No. I don't consider graphic novels to be romance books. Erotica and Romance shouldn't even be used in the same sentences. I don't have a problem with graphic novels, but they generally focus on the sexual relationship between two people. It' s kind of like, "Let's add a bunch of sex scenes to this story, so people don't realize how bad the actual story is."
But I'm not a hater. To be honest, this isn't a book that you will analzye or read for years to come. Fifty Shades Of Grey was an easy read. It'll make readers cry, laugh, and smile. The trilogy will definitely make a fun summer read and I would recomend it for readers who aren't looking for a serious reader.
I support all writers. :) So It's fabulous that a single book as brought so many people together. Whether you hate or love the trilogy, you can't deny that it has connected millions and millions of people.
