& Mini Rant-

Thought #1:   I have to say one more thing about stuck up writers lol I think every writer should take pride in their work.  If you're going to paste your name to something then you might as well write something worth reading!

But, honestly.....

I can't stand stuck up writers.  Don't tell me, "You should be honored to read my work for free. One day, I'll be a New York times best selling Author and everyone will worship my work."

It's easier to connect with writers that are more down to earth.  And I hate to break it to you sweetheart, but even the good authors having a hard time landing a publishing deal.  Everyone in the world wants to publish a book and make it to the best seller list.

And if you are going to be vain, then please a reason to be vain.   But, I think readers want author who they can relate to. Don't we all?

Thought #2:  People who write for the hell of it

Okay in my last post I said anyone can be a writer. I simply meant that if you can kindle a burning passion for writing, then you are a writer. If you are willingly to slave over your work everyday, knowing that your books may never be in print, then you are a writer!

However, it annoys when a famous celebrity comes out with a b ook. Of course, it sells millions. And of course,  millions of people rave about it.   Oh and then they never write another book.

It's unfair because if you're already famous, people will buy your stuff. Generally, I hate (dis-like) all writers who publish one a few books through the lifetime. Yes, I think you should write until the day you die.

But even when no-name writers make it big, they publish one series and then they drop off the face of earth.

Thought#3- Wait- Excuse me

Commenter_1A:  Hey, I like the story. But, it needs some work. You have some issues with transitions. But you should read _____ (insert book name here).   It will help you.

Lexy: Thank you. Thank you so much for the constructive feedback. Blah. blah. blah.  Is it a published book or a real book?

Commenter_1A:  It's one of my best novels.

Excuse me?  If you say I need to read a wattpad author's work or a published book, then I will be more than happy to read it.  But, telling me that I need to read your book to improve is a bit insulting.  Seriously? You couldn't think of one wattpad author to reccommend, besides yourself?

Okay, I don't know if your trying to get more reads. You don't insult the reader and then tell them to read your book.  Take a marketing class.   **************

It takes a lot of money and work to produce a single e-book. I think people have to be willingly to price the their book low. And, it takes a lot more time to market your own book.   But either way, it's thrilling to write and produce your work.   Self-publishing has opened many doors for unknown writers. Amanda Hocking for instance was rejected fifty times before she self-published her best selling novel My blood approves. After her novels sold a 1.1 million,  she earned a three million dollar contract with a traditonal publishing company. Authors like John Locke, have made millions  through self publication. John Locke has refused many offers for traditional publishing houses and he has built his own buissness from the ground up. He's definitely one of my inspirations.

Self publication has opened so many doors for writers.  Because in end, what does every writer want? Writers want to know that their voice matters.  If you write one novel that touches one heart, then that is what matters.

I just want to be heard.   Self publication does have a bad rep but you can't deny that we have entered a new age.  E-books are selling faster than ever.  Thousands of writers are deciding to take control of their destinies by self-publication.

So what books sell the most? Actually, e-books priced at 99 cents sell fifty times more. Speaking of pricing, I'm amused when some authors price their e-books at $20.00 and then they whine that they sold very few books.  Yeah, I wouldn't buy your self-published book for twenty dollars.  In fact, your selling 50 times more  if you price your book at 99 cents.  You can always price the second book for more.  Amanda Hocking priced her books between $1-3.

The most fasnicating thing about self publication- every Marketing decison is crucial. Truly. Don't walk into an industry you know  nothing about.  Research every detail.

Oh you have to write a good book- Lol.
