Adult Romance Stories- Why I avoid them

Before the nook or the kindle was invented, my parents would take me and my bestfriend to the bookstore every weekend.  My bestfriend would find one or two books that sparked her interest. I would find six or seven books.  I would literally look at every book in the bookstore. It takes me five or ten seconds to captive my interest as a reader or lose it completely.

I'm a terrible critic.  I have a list of authors who I love, but I could probably tell you ten things that annoy me about their personal writing style.   Because authors are human and flawed.  And I have come across many brilliant writers and I love analzying their work.  For instance I can take any book in the world and say, "The writer could have improved the story by doing this or that."   That doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy reading that novel.  In fact, I'm a such a horrible critic that I usually feel un-satisified after finishing a story.

And I haven't read a really good (published) book in two years. And I wanted to read a beautiful crafted love story. So I went looking for adult romance novels because I wanted to read about the problems older couples face. I read novels on the best selling list and I read no-name novels. Sadly, I was very dissappointment.  Adult romance stories focus more on the physical aspect of the relationship and I do like how the romance usually starts early in every romance. I do like understanding why this character is attracting to that character.

Generally, they don't focus on the emotional aspect as much as the physical aspect.  And, the writing is very bland.  I mean romance writers have to work twice as hard to prove themseleves. And I hate boring lines, 'yep, she makes me complete' or  'i want her. so much it burns.'   Some of the lines are half thoughts.  The vocubalary is standard and not very advance for a adult writer.

I'm not saying that every line should be a beautiful metaphor but atleast take some time into developing the lines of the story.

Imagine  lines like 'yep, i'm happy.'

Okay lines like this should not exsist, especially in a best-selling novel.  The sentence is just lazy.  It would take me less than three minutes to think of a better sentence.  I just felt like the books I read were filled with cheesy lines and could have been better edited.

I do have higher expectations for a best selling novel. I guess that is why I like young adult novels with romantic themes.

Any good books?I'm dying to read a good book.  :) Tell me your favorite (published) books below!

I'm thinking about writing a short story. I don't have time to focus on any novels right now.  In eight weeks, I can return to writing my other novels.
