Non-Teen Fiction- (easy) There are only 50,000 stories in this rank. It's one of the easiest ranks on the site! If your story is #8 then it will stay #8 for a while. If you don't post for two weeks, then it will begin to drop slowly.
Romance- (Highly competitive)
There are 1 million stories. And if you want to keep a certain rank, you have to post everyday. If you wait a few days to post, your rank will drop dramatically by five to ten places!
Teen Fiction (Highly competitive)
Teen fiction is more competitive then Romance and that is saying something! It's probably twice as hard as Romance but I notice that the teen fiction authors have some loyal commenters! I'm amazed to see that some authors have three hundred to five hundred comments per chapter!
Science fiction, adventure, and Poetry are read by very few people.
Easy Rank- It's easier to be featured, of course!
Harder Rank- There's more exposure for YOUR story! If you're featured in a easy rank, you may get a few thousand views a day. If you're featured on the front page of the romance section, you may get between 25,000 views and 50,000 a day!
Humor (slightly more challenging then non-teen fiction)
Conclusion, pick a easy rank and a hard one. If you can get #10 in a easy rank, then you may get #50 in a high rank.
