FIVE THINGS THAT ANNOY ME AS A READER:
Title Mistakes: I love my alpha but he has rejected me! I Iove my best friend but he is in love with my sister!
I hate long titles that give away the story. If you do this, I'm not going near your story. I can already predict the beginning, the middle, and the end of the story! And I haven't even read the first line!
2. Do you really think your clever by putting a $ or # between words? Find me a published book that looks like this: Sh$T. D#$mn.
3. My ulitmate pet peeve is when people are too lazy to put periods or commas between quoting marks!
"I went to the mall with sarah"
4. Stories that start with the beeping sound of an alarm clock! Don't do it.
BEEEP BEEP BEEEP
BEEP BEEEP BEEEP
Writing awkward noises across a page doesn't attract readers. Can we please skip the awkward morning scene? It's really over-done!
This almost annoys me as much as #3.
5. Accents. Don't try to do a southern accent unless you're actually from the south. Have you heard the terrible accents in True Blood (The Tv Series) ? After I watched the series, I wanted to burn the books! I liked some of the books. Please don't kill me.
And for the love of all things good, NEVER TRY TO DO ACCENT THAT HASN'T BEEN USED SINCE THE 16th CENTURY! Most accents come off fake and unauthenic! They will only dumb down your story! Accents can be an asset to stories if performed correctly! If you're well versed with accents then you can ignore this advice.
