I don't really believe in writer's block. Have you noticed that from my other posts? If you're having trouble pushing that dark wall (or blank page), push harder and harder. Force yourself to write. Contrary to popular belief, forcing yourself to write is a good idea. And no you it won't be a 'bad chapter! If you force yourself to write, if you push yourself to the point of tears, then you will write one of your best chapters. You write a chapter you are truly proud of!
Writing is a hard, grueling job. And it only gets harder and harder. But if you're strong, you'll eventually see the light at the end.
People will say, "You shouldn't force yourself to write! The chapter won't come off very good!" Do you think you should sit around and do nothing? Yeah waiting for some magical inspiration is such a great hard! Writing is an art but at the same time is a technique that takes years to improve. You must write, write, and write. Yes, it's really true that practice makes perfect!
Forcing yourself to write.
1) Yes, you think of something to write. If you sit behind the computer for an hour and play songs or brain storm random thoughts, something will eventually stick.
2) Don't delete every sentence! Finish an entire chapter before you even think about deleting!
3) Don't re-read your work too many times. You're over thinking things. Stop analyzing every word and sentence. Just breathe!
4) Take breaks between each page if your having a really hard time finishing an entire page.
5) Sometimes, when you are struggling to write a really hard chapter, write a shorter chapter. Long chapters are not always the best. Write whatever length feels comfortable for you. When the chapter feels complete, then end it. You are the writer and no one can tell you if your chapter is too short or too long. You will have to make those creative choices on your own!
