"Kiera you have to eat." I say taking a piece of bread of her still full plate. She just hugs her knees to her chest and turns away. "Kiera."
"No, go away." She yells at me. I sigh and drop the bread back on her plate. I look down at the two cots on the floor, and see Skye, Emma, and Zac eating their dinner. Skye didn't seem scared of what she could do, but she didn't kill her best friend. I decided working with her soon would be beneficial for all of us. I pick up the large leather bound book, which I had picked up from the libary. I flipped through the pages looking for some kind of dream-future-telling ability. Most abilities were related to their animal, but with Zac it was different. There was absolutely nothing on his gift. I slammed the book closed in frustration and threw it at the wall. Zac jumped up and caught it in midair. I smiled and then walked over to Skye.
"Wanna come for a walk?" I ask her. She nods and wrestles with the blankets, before standing up to join me. I take one last look at Kiera who is now fast asleep before leaving the room. We walk through the city, looking at all the shopes and houses.
"It's like the real thing." Skye says staring at the celing. A projection of a blue sky and white puffy clouds covered the ceiling.
"As close as possible." I say sadly. We walk past a bakery and the smell of something burning hits my nose. Fog drifts over us as we walk past. I stop in my tracks and Skye looks over at me confussed. I awnser the question I know she's asking.
"Fog doesn't exist underground." I say realizeing what was happening.
"Kiera." Skye and I saw at the same time. We spin on our heals and sprint back to the hospital as fast as possible. When we reach the hospital a thick layer of smoke stands to greet us. Doctors and nurses are rushing people out. I yell at Skye to stay there and rush inside coughing and choking. I run blindly trying to remember my way to the room. I see Zac stumble out of a room holding a coughing Emma. I sprint over to them and motion for Zac to get her out. I fly into the room and run over to Kiera. I wake her from her sleep gently but fast.
"Hey Kiera." She blinks up at me, before a look of panic flashes across her face.
"Hey it's okay, it was just a dream." "You can controll this." I say. She shakes her head.
"No I can't," She says. "I couldn't then and I can't now." She says refering back to the day at the lab.
"Hey what happened to Jax wasn't your fault." I tell her taking her hand.
"Can't you see, I'm doing this!" She yells. "I did this to Jax, I killed him!" A spark of light errups from the corner of the room. I looked behind me and accidentally over hear her thoughts.
"I'm going to kill him. She thinks the realization before I even think it. I'm about to say something else, when out of nowhere Kiera whispers the words.
"I'm sorry." And she takes a syringe full of a sedative and plunges it into her arm. I reach out to take it from her, but it's already working. Kiera's head falls to her pillow and the smoke clears. I pull the needle out of her arm and sigh. Kelly was so good at this sort of thing. She used to help all of the kids when they received their gifts. But now she was gone, and I had no idea where to begin with Kiera. She was a mess, an emotional mess. She killed her best friend and then almost killed her father a d the rest of the people who cared about her. I couldn't even imagine what she was going through. My ability was simple. Inhuman strenth. The worst thing I've one was break my friend's arm when we were arm wrestling. And then there was Skye and Zac. Skye's ability was simple kind of. I just had to teach her how to controll her emotions. Zac was very confussing, but I would figure it out. The only other problem was that I was the leader of the whole pack. A pack that was being hunted down by the whole goverment. Someone knocks gently and I turn around. Nathan my second in comand is standing at the door. Cody behind him.
"We have a problem." He says. I just stare blankly at him half listening.
"Yes Nathan we have a lot of problems acually."
"They have Kelly." I almost fell of the bed.
"Kelly is....dead." I say almost crying. I guess I thought that if I never said the words it would never be true.
"It was a set up, for Cody," "They thought if he witnessed loss he would break out, and then they would have a weapon against us." "They didn't acually kill her it was a retractible knife. " My heart almost stopped.
"What are you talking about?" Cody comes out from behind Nathan.
"He's saying that if you don't hand me over to Kaine, he's going to kill her and this time for real." I look over at Cody like he is the worst thing in the world.
"Get out!" I yell. Cody tries to protest but Nathan leads him out. I get up walk over to the chair Zac was sitting in and throw it across the room. After it crashes into the wall and falls to the ground. I pick up another one and throw it. It flies over Kiera's head and slams into the wall. I'm about to go for another chair, when a voice stops me. It's Zac standing at the door.
"It that helping?" He says smirking at me.
"No I was just practicing for the adult baseball league."
"I'm pretty sure they use baseballs not chairs." He says walking over to me. I fall into the chair that I was about to throw.
"I just don't know what to do." I say looking down at the floor. Look at me taking advice from a sixteen year old.
"Well-" Nathan rushes into the room out of breath.
"He's gone."
"Who's gone?"
"Cody, he's gone after Kaine."
