"Nathan please." I plead following him around the compound.
"I said no." He says stopping to look at me. "We don't need all these people panicking." He says getting back to work.
"No they can help us." I say chasing him again.
"Jordan no, that's my finally awnser." He walks away and I stop trying to keep up with him. They kidnapped Kiera, and the others still are not back with Cody yet. Something went wrong, but Nathan won't hear it. He says if they're not gone for more than a week, we don't worry. When they took Kiera we heard things, like footprints running across the land. We were told by Nathan that no one could go up there, but today I was going out there. What was he so scared of. I walked past shops and restaurants, untill I got to the ladder. A couple of guards stood in front of it.
"Hey Jordan did you hear no one goes up, untill Martin returns."
"Umm yeah, you didn't hear, Nathan said I could go check?"
"No man, we didn't hear anythihg maybe I could call him and we could get this all sorted out."
"No, no that's okay." I say turning around. I take about two steps before swinging back around and punching him in the face.
"Sorry Bobby." I say. I walk towards the next one and throw him down to the ground before he could reach for his walkie. Then I morph into a hawk and shoot into the air. I fly past the other guards as they reach for their walkies. The bolder opens outwards and I fly out, shooting into the sky. I look down, expecting the lush, green grass, and the hundreds of trees . Instead I look around and find that our lake has dried up and all the grass it dead. Some of the trees are burning, and others are reduced to stumps. Blood is on the ground and all the flowers are gone. The earth is dried up and the sky is grey. I let my emotions take over and suddenly I'm hurtling to the ground, at a hundred miles per hour. Falling to the ground as a human, I land on my face. The dry, caked dirt welcomes me. I groan and then jump to my feet. I close my eyes waiting for it to all disappear. waiting for the valley that I know and love to reappear before my eyes. When I open my eyes nothing has changed, so I run. I run until I trip over a rock and land in the dirt face first. I scramble to my knees and look up. No clouds in the sky, I hand falls on my shoulder. I look behind me, Nathan is standing there with a guard named Jason.
"You knew." I say, the realization hitting me like a brick to the face.
"I'm sorry, I know how much you loved this place and I thought-"
"Kaine did this." I say more like a statement, then a question. Nathan nods, and Jason looks down, hanging his head in guilt. Nathan must have told Jason and now he feels bad he didn't tell me. It wasn't his fault though, he was under direct orders. I get to my feet and take one last look around. Then I head towards the city, mumbling under my breath the whole way back.
I flip open the cover and turn to the first page. Taped to the first page is a note.
You can save us all Kiera, but only if you find the truth, once find it you have to figure out how to escape. Remember it's all in your head. Please hurry for some of us it's already to late.
