Chapter 52: This is War

Howls echo through the night. I wake with a start. Kelly is fast asleep on one of the beds, and the kids are, gone. Wait gone?

"Kelly wake up now." She wakes up instantly.

"What, what's wrong?" She says, looking worried.

"The kids are gone!" I say pointing to the half empty cell. Her face becomes calm again.

"They took them, and turned them." She says looking up at the celing. "I'm sorry, I couldn't do anything to stop them." She says starting to cry. It's oje of the rare times I've seen her cry, she's always so strong and calm.

"Hey, hey its okay." I say getting up from the floor and walking over to comfort her. "It's not your fault." I say. She laughs through tbe tears.

"Hey, stop stealing my job." She says. I put my hands up in surrender. She sits up and looks at me.

"We have to do something, they've taken Kiera and the others to Canada." She points to a map. "The other labs are everywhere else." Several colorful pins were scatterd across Kaine's map. Kaine wasn't there but they kept popping up digitally everytime someone entered in the area they demolished. Pins kept popping up everywhere, it seemed like it was taking less time to finish each city, and even state. We only had two thousand morph at our facility currently, but we were going to be receiving new additions soon. Kaine's benifit as president was paying off for him. He was already thinking of names for his new world. The Kaine Republic was his number one choice. I looked over at the bars. What if I could bend the bars, so we could get through. I say in my mind. No Martin you shouldn't use your strenth yet. Kelly says evesdropping on my thoughts.

"Well we don't have any other choices, pins keep popping up every thirty seconds and our son and daughter are probaly leading." I say pracically screaming. Kelly tries to protest, but I ignore her and walk over to the bars. I put my hands on the metal and pull. A crashing sound echos throuh the hall. I ignore it, it was probaly one of Kaine's stupid guards. There were only about twenty guards left in the building. I pulled two of the bars as hard as I could in opposite directions. They were acually really strong. I heard shouting and gunfire down the hall. Kaine had only left them with two or three RO2, he took the rest. I pulled harder, I knew the guards were probaly coming after us. I pulled and finally made a big enough gap for a person to fit through. I heard footsteps running. Black spots danced before my eyes and the footsteps were getting fainter. I turned around and saw Kelly running slow mo towards me. Then I felt myself falling backwards. Hands pulled me up, but I blacked out before anyone could say anything, or do anything else.

We ran through the lab, unsure of where to go. There were about twenty differnt floors. We each took a floor untill one of my guards yelled through my walkie that he found movement on the ninteenth floor. I yelled into the watch to stay put intill we got up there. All I heard was gun fire. I sprinted throuh the halls searching for an elavator. I finally found one after turning corners and running past room, and cages. I pressed the button and it glowed green. It was one of those elavators that was c,ear. It has an excellent view of the collapsed building and burned forests. The overturned cars really added a perfect touch. I stuggled to contain myself from screaming and cursing. There was nothing left in this world, nothing but fear and death and the person responible was already dead. Once you kill the dragon, you have to kill all the babies, and that's exactly what we were going to do. The elavator beeped and a voice said level 18.

"Bows ready." I commanded. I shifted, and got ready. The doors slid open and an animated voice said leval 20. I ran past shocked guards with RO2s. Kaine was hording them all, but today he was going to lose them all. I heard arrows and bullets flying through the air. I knew who was going to win, so I ran faster. After they took out my men they would ocme after me. I ran through the hall passing cells and cages. I was running past this one cell when I heard a yell. I skidded to a stop , and turned to the left. There was noone in thag cell, so I turned to the right. There was Kelly and Martin. Two of the bars were bent, leaving a huge hole. Martin was unconscious in Kelly's arms. She was yelling, but stopped when she saw me.
