Levi x Dying!Reader - You'll be in my Heart {Modern}

Ring, Ring, Ring.

Levi's phone had gone off during a work meeting. He quickly checked and saw the number of the local hospital.

"Excuse me Erwin, I think something wrong. It's the hospital." Levi said. Erwin excused Levi and he popped out of the room, sliding his thumb to answer the call.

"Hello?"

"Hello, is this Mr. Levi Ackerman?" A lady on the other end asked.

"Yes?"

"We are here to inform you that as of 8 am this morning you wife, Mrs. (y/N) Ackerman has been put in the hospital because of unknown reasons." The nurse said. Levi frowned.

"Of course, I'll be there soon." He said, before hanging up. He walked into the room and started to grab his coat.

"Erwin, (Y/N) was just put in the hospital, I need to see her." Levi explained, stuffing his phone in his pocket. Erwin nodded and waved him off.

He walked into the parking lot and hopped in his car. He drove as fast as he could to the hospital and walked quickly through the doors and to the receptionist.

"Hello, I'm here to see Mrs. (Y/N) Ackerman. I'm her husband." He said. The lady flipped through some papers and looked up.

"4th floor, 3rd door to your left." She said. He nodded and rushed onto the elevator, tapping his foot nervously.

Levi had never been one to show emotions in face, but physical movement was a dead give away. He would jitter or fidget when he was nervous. He'd cross his arms when he was angry. He'd slightly rock their hands when he was happy.

He arrived on the floor and rushed to the door of (Y/N)'s hospital room. He opened the door and the sight broke him.

(Y/N) was lying in her bed, her normally somewhat tanned skin (Thanks to the beach by their house), pale. Her (E/C) had lost their light. When she saw him enter, she smiled weakly. He quickly rushed over to her side.

"Hi Hon." She whispered, weakly putting her hand out. Levi grabbed it and felt her cold skin.

"My god, I was so scared that you had, left me." He said softly. She laughed softly.

"I would never leave you Levi, at least not without saying goodbye." She whispered.

"What happened?" He asked her, pulling a chair to sit by her side.

"I don't know, all of a sudden I felt dizzy and then I couldn't walk. I screamed and then passed out.
Next thing I knew I was here." She explained quietly. Levi observed (Y/N) more closely. Her (H/L) (H/C) hair was a frizzy mess as she laid in her bed. A strand covered her eyes and he noticed more closely that she was wearing her glasses (if you don't wear glasses or contacts pretend!) instead of her normal contacts. Her soft pink lips were paler and chapped. She was wearing a paper gown and shivered everytime she moved in the slightest.

"God, I really hope you'll be okay." Levi said. He watched the heart monitor as it beeped a bit slower then normally. A nurse came in a smiled sadly at them.

"Hello. You must be (Y/N)'s husband. I'm Mikasa. I've come to inform you that (Y/N) needs to start prepping for surgery." The nurse said, before walking out. Levi squeezed (Y/N)'s hand before standing up.

"I'll be here waiting for you to get out." Levi said, and gave her a big kiss.

"I love you." She said and Levi almost started sobbing.

"I love you too." He replied and kissed her forehead.

"And just in case, goodbye." Levi whispered as he walked out and to the waiting room.

A couple hours later, a Doctor came to consult him.

"Mr. Ackerman, I'm so sorry. She didn't make it." He said. Levi nodded, not wanting to break down.

"Do you want to see her?" He asked. Levi nodded silently and followed the doctor to her room. She lay, arms resting on her chest, eyes closed. The doctor left them alone and Levi let some tears fall from his grey eyes.

"I'm so sorry, I, I'm so so so so sorry." Levi whispered as he took his wife's dead, cold hands in his. He remembered the time she made fun of him for it.

(Y/N) and Levi were out for a walk in December. Levi was freezing, forgetting to put on his gloves. (Y/N) grabbed his hand and giggled.

"Your hands are freezing." She teased, looking at him with a cheerful face. Levi tch'd not wanting to make a big deal out of it,

"I'll warm them!~" She shouted. Levi groaned as they walked into a coffee shop and she ordered two hot chocolates.

"You do have to." Levi said. (Y/N) glared. She wanted to.

"Just be quiet." She said and paid the cashier.

Levi had more tears running down his face as he placed a strand behind her ear.

Levi and (Y/N) were watching a movie on their couch and (Y/N) had fallen asleep. Levi stared at her noticed how tangled her (H/L) (H/C) hair was. He ran his fingers through the mess until it was smooth. He placed his head on hers, unaware of the blushing mess underneath him.

Levi pulled out his phone and pressed the first song he saw as he got into his car. 

As he walked into the house, he cried and cried.

"I love you." He whispered.

He missed his girl, but she would always be in his heart.
