You smiled wide as you opened your eyes. Christmas Eve. It was finally Christmas Eve. You bounced out of the bed and looked outside to see snow falling. You smiled. You turned to see the rising and falling of the blanket next to you."Levi! Get up!" You whispered excitedly, as you shook his shoulder. He groaned and batted your hand away.
"Do you want me to make you some tea?" You asked. He grunted and nodded,
"Okay!" You chirped, pulling on your slippers and your sweater. You took one last look at your sleeping husband, before slipping out into the hallway. You walked down the hallway and into the small, but comforting living room. Your tree stood proud in the entrance to the dining area. Fairy lights were strung high. You plugged them into the wall and watched as the whole house lit up. Your fireplace was strung with gold tinsel, and both of your stockings were dangling down. Various other Christmas items littered the rooms and you could wipe the look of happiness.
"Tea time!" You whispered, and walked into the kitchen. You grabbed the tea from on top of the fridge and starting the kettle. It beeped angrily as you poured the steaming water into a cup. You stuck your tea filter into the cup, and then added the tea leaves. As you were leaning against the counter, your phone started to ring. You picked it up and swiped to answer.
"Hello?"
"Mom!" A familiar voice yelled back. Marco, your son.
"Marco! Oh, it's so good to hear your voice. How is everything?" You asked. You heard a chuckle.
"Good. I just wanted to tell you that Jean and I are on the plane. We should be leaving soon and I wanted to let you know." Marco said. You smiled.
"That sounds lovely dear. Tell Jean hi for me. I'll see you tomorrow morning." You said. Marco said his goodbye and hung up. I smiled.
"My little cute son. I can't wait to see him." You said. You grabbed the tea cup and emptied the stray tea leaves from the cup. You brought the steaming cup into your bedroom and set it aside your bedside table.
"Here's your tea, lazy bum. Come on, it's time to get up." You said, sitting my Levi's body. Levi groggily sat up, pulling you into his lap.
"It's Christmas Eve. We do I have to get up?" He asked. You sighed.
"Because I told you to. Besides, I still need help wrapping Marco and Jeans presents." You said. Levi sighed.
"Okay, I'll help, but only because you're cute and I love you." He said. You smiled wide.
"Thank you. Now hurry up, I'm making us breakfast." You said, getting up and leaving the room. Levi chuckled.
"How she is so full of energy is a mystery to me." He said. He slowly got out of bed, slipping on a warmer pair of pajama pants and his slippers, before heading out to the living room. He could smell the sweet aroma of pancakes and bacon, a Christmas Eve tradition since Marco was little. Despite the fact that Marco was now 21 and married, the two never stopped their traditions.
"What channel do you want on?" He asked.
"I don't care, put on the Christmas music channel or something. Just so we can get into the holiday spirit." You called back. You smiled as the bacon landed perfectly on the plate next to the stove. After you finished putting the bacon on the plate, you walked over to the plate of pancakes and put three on each plate. You accompanied that with 3 bacon slices. You grabbed the plates and napkins and headed to the living room, where Levi sat with a book in his hand.
