Step one, you say, "We need to talk."

He walks, you say, "Sit down. It's just a talk."
He smiles politely back at you

(Y/N) was acting strange. She wasn't like this. She didn't do this. When Levi heard the rumors going around about her, he absolutley refused to listen or believe any of them. Then he noticed the way she was moving, talking and even eating. As if she was trying to hide from an unimpending doom that would hit her at any time. Levi decided that at morning coffee tomorrow, he would bring it up. And when he did, she changed. Her face grew a bit panicked, he saw her inwardly flinch and he could tell she was trying to calm herself majorly.

You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right

"(Y/N), what's wrong?" He asked. She took a couple of deep breaths before answering.

"Nothing, I'm fine." he spoke, sounding like she was trying to convince herself more than trying to convince Levi.

"No you're not. You've been acting different and I assume you know all about the rumors going around school. Are they true?" He asked. She looks down and starts fiddling with her thumbs.

"I-I don't k-know what you're t-talking about." She stuttered. Levi reached across the table and grabbed her arm. He pulled it in front of him.

"I don't want to look, so tell me now. If I lift this sleeve up, will there be marks?"

As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came

"Y-Yes." She said, whispering. He could see tears welling up in her eyes. He reached over and brushed them away.

"Why didn't you tell me? I could have helped." Levi said, trying to comfort his friend.

"I knew you would blame me."

"I'm not blaming you. What could I blame you for? Depression and cutting? I wouldn't ever dream of doing that. Because you're my best friend and this is not your fault." He said. She sighed.

"Can I ask why your harming yourself?"

Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend

And I would have stayed up with you all night

"I don't know if that's such a good idea." She said, messing with her (H/L), (H/C) hair. He stared at her and she finally sighed.

"Fine, but don't expect to much. It started a couple years ago. One of my great friends had depression. I didn't know back then, but now I do. Or I did. She committed suicide a few days after her parents found out. I had only found out an hour or so before her parents found out."

Try to slip past his defense

She ran out without a word when she finished telling Levi. He stared into space. He had never known. Of course he had only been friends with her when they became roommates, but he had never imagined something that terrible would happen to such a small, gentle girl.
