Levi x Reader - To Old Friends

Levi was in one of his moods again. You could tell. He wasn't yelling so much, and wasn't talking very much. He was cleaning more and the biggest giveaway was he was avoiding you. You were his girlfriend, he never avoided you. Unless there was something or someone bugging him.

"Hey Levi, are you alright?" You asked, setting a hand on your boyfriends shoulder. He flinched slightly and shook his head.

"I'm fine (Y/N). Just got something on my mind."

"Want to share? You've seemed pretty depressed all day." You asked, sitting on the bed next to him. He sighed.

"I'm fine (Y/N). Shoudn't you be helping Armin and Hanji with research stuff?" He asked you. You smiled and leaned your head on his shoulder.

"Research can wait. Armin and Hanji are more than capable of handling the research on their own. Everyone's worried about you, but I won't push you to tell me. Bye honey." You said and pressed a light kiss to Levi's cheek before heading out the door. Levi sighed, hoping that you would finally get some work done today. He felt guilty that he was the reason you had gotten only a miniscule amount of work done.

Of course you didn't go back to the research tent. You headed to Erwin's office. You knocked twice on the door.

"Who is it?"

"It's (Y/N) sir."

"Come in Captain." You opened the door and saw Erwin staring at you.

"Hey Erwin. I came to ask you a question." You said, sliding into the chair across from Erwin.

"What is it (Y/N)?" Erwin asked, smiling at you.

"Levi seems like he's depressed. I was wondering if there might be any specific reason why?" You asked. Erwin sighed.

"I have been thinking about it all day and I think I know why."

"Can you tell me?" Erwin frowned.

"A while back, Levi joined the military. Not really be choice. He used to live in the underground and used to take things for survival. He got caught and an exchange for his life, he was forced to join the military. He had to friends that joined with him. Isabel Magnolia and Furlan Church. They were great friends. But the died on a mission. If I remember correctly, today actually marks the day the died." Erwin explained. You gasped and held back tears. You didn't know Levi had such a terrible life.

"Erwin, can I ask a favor of you?"

"What?"

"Can I take Levi to his friends grave?" You asked. Erwin smiled softly.

"I think that's a great idea (Y/N). It's located by a lake in the forest. Go help Levi cheer up." Erwin said, dismissing you. You nodded and mumbled a thank you before rushing out the door and to the lab.

"Hey Hanji, Armin, I'm taking today off to do something for Levi. Will you be okay without me here?" You asked. They both nodded. You smiled and headed off.

You headed to the kitchen first and grabbed a bottle of wine, a picnic basket, and a couple of snacks. You packed two wine glasses. You then ran to your room and grab a blanket. You stuffed it into the basket and then headed to find Levi.

"Eren, have you seen Levi?" You asked the teal eye'd boy. He nodded and smiled.

"Hey went to go clean the dining hall before dinner." Eren said. You thanked the boy and rushed off the get your grey eye'd boyfriend.

You found him wiping the table, muttering to himself, his white cloth pulled over his mouth.

You snuck up behind him and wrapped your arms around his waist and inhaled his natural musk.

"Hey Levi, can you stop cleaning. I want to take you somewhere." You asked, head buried into Levi's neck. Levi sighed and pulled the cloth down.

"Is this important?"

"Extremely." You said. Levi reluctantly put his cleaning supplies back and followed you out and to the stables.

"Here, get on your horse, we're going into the forest." You said, hopping onto your horse. You secured the pinic basket and rode off into the silent forest, Levi following you silently. Eventually you found the lake. It wasn't hard to find the two small graveyards. Levi's breathe hitched when he saw the chisled stone. You tied the horses down and headed down by the gravestones, picnic basket in hand.

"Sit down." You said, lying the blanket down for you and Levi to sit down on. Levi reluctantly sat down, close to breaking down.

"I know what's bothering you." You said, pulling out the wine, the glasses, and the snacks.

"How did you-"

"Erwin told me. I asked him if anything might be bothering you." You explained, pouring the wine into the glasses. You handed one to Levi and looked at the gravestones."

"Erwin said you guys were great friends. Can you tell me about them?" You asked. Levi nodded.

"Furlan, he wanted me to join his gang. Had me fight all of them. I beat all of them and he decided to join me. He was a great guy, able to have fun, but be serious when he needed to be. He trusted me. Isabel was an energetic girl. She was prideful, sometimes more prideful then she should have been. She was talented though. She was like a sister to me." Levi said, smiling slightly and stopping to take a sip of his wine.

"They were brave, both of them. It's my fault they're dead. I went to go after Erwin and told them to stay. A Titan attacked their squad. Furlan was stuck and Isabel tried to save him and got stuck on the back of the Titan. She got crushed between the two of them. She was yelling for help, yelling for me. Furlan tried to kill them after, but he got eaten, while I watched. I killed the Titans. But it was too late. I was to prideful to save them. I-It was my fault." Levi said, tears streaming down his face. You rubbed his back.

"Levi, it's okay. Isabel and Furlan wouldn't want you to beat yourself up over this." You whispered. Levi wrapped an arm around your waist and buried his head into your neck.

"I don't deserve you."

"No, I don't deserve you."

3rd P.o.V

Isabel smiled down at the couple. Furlan stood next to her.

"I'm glad he's got someone to take care of him. He's happy." Isabel said, grabbing Furlans hand and intertwining their fingers.

"Me too."

They watched as the couple raised their glasses in a toast.

"To Old Friends." They said. Isabel and Furlan, tears in their eyes, smiled. Together they chanted,

"To Old Friends."
